Competent in all technical requirements of the project/job assigned. Senior Architect/Engineer, with 5+ yrs. of experience. Producing competent technical reports/details, with minimal requirement of additional technical training. Checking/reviewing the work of others. Progressing towards a technical or management career path.
- Able to author competent technical reports of acceptable presentational quality with no rework required
- Able to manage the drafting of successful responses to enquiries within their area of expertise
- Able to check work of all those in the project team
- Conversant with SCR’s
- Able to realistically estimate cost / time associated with projects within their area of expertise
- Demonstrates a clear understanding of work procedures and the ability to brief their project team
- Good understanding of Business Unit technologies, markets and international business
- Able to discuss in detail with clients the local business technologies and markets
In addition to the above and depending on their career path are likely to demonstrate some of these competencies:
Technical Roles:
- Able to present / represent their technical work and that of their colleagues on the project (presentations / meetings)
- Applies professional knowledge and experienced judgement, and could refer to more senior staff in areas of work outside of his technical knowledge
- Demonstrates design ability and/or technical detail capability
Management (Project and/or People) Roles:
- Regular supervising of other junior staff
- Familiar with the commercial aspects of project management
- Aptitude for implanting management processes and policies
- Own any issues that customers might have and facilitate their resolution
- Ensure that the designs are safe, of the best and highest quality for customer
- Responsible for ensuring the team members complete time sheets on time
Experience and Soft Skills Required:
- 5 + Years of experience Good communication and listening skills.
- Writing professional reports with minimal rework required.
- Identifies and rectifies concerns keeping Supervisor informed
- Issuing clear and precise instructions to less experienced team members
- Able to draft responses to straight forward queries.
- An effective team member able to apply knowledge gained.
- Fosters team building
- Acts in best interest of the team at all times.
- Being able to understand the implication of adjusting priorities of team members
- Willingness to share information and knowledge with team members
- Take initiative to pull the team together and accomplish team goals
- Willing to participate and contribute to company social activities
Regularly supervises junior staff:
- Is proactive and co-operative in a multi-disciplinary project team environment
- Builds relationships with limited sets of UK colleagues
- Starts to demonstrate an understanding of people management issues
- Self-discipline and able to manage own daily work allocation as well as those of more junior team members, Responsible for completion of projects to time, cost and quality
- Ability to plan, prioritize and execute tasks of self and team members to deadlines within budget and demonstrate results
- Demonstrating management of own career goals and aspirations
- Develops relationships with GDC customers and Atkins colleagues outside of business area
- Good knowledge of work and office procedures
- Maintains relationships with peers based in overseas offices
- Shows flexibility in work tasks and location within the project group other teams.
- Flexible, enthusiastic and able to make sound judgements

- Exhibits energy and enthusiasm
- Ability to probe and challenge to enhance understanding

Demonstrates ability to understand complex projects in integration. Takes responsibility of checking less experienced colleagues’ work for quality project delivery. Starts developing relations with Atkins colleagues outside of own business area. Exhibits clear progression towards a technical or management career path. Technical training as and when there is a new technology to be implemented, otherwise through with the need of technical training.
The successful candidate will need to:
- Be highly self-motivated and ambitious
- Be able to work with limited supervision
- Be able to adapt to different cultures and working environments to build rapport with customers
- Be able to build excellent working relationships with colleagues and clients
- Have experience of using written and spoken English within a business environment
- Knowledge in French would be an advantage.
