We are looking for someone motivated and with a positive attitude who will join our growing multidisciplinary team in the Birmingham office. Your skills are important and your attitude towards taking on fresh challenges is key. You’ll enjoy working closely with other engineers in project teams, small or large.

From a technical perspective, you’ll have a sound understanding of the fundamentals of structural behavior, so that you can apply this knowledge to help solve a wide range of problems.

Does this sound like you? In which case, we’d love you to apply for this role.

The Role

You’ll be working within our Nuclear & Power business, where our team focusses both on the UK Nuclear and conventional power sector.

You will join a team of civil and electrical engineering professionals with staff of graduate through to chief engineer level, helping to develop technical solutions across a wide range of challenging projects.  You’ll be flexible; you could be working on a small individual assignment or as part of a larger, multi-disciplinary team, taking on some of the most complex and challenging projects in the world.

The person

Our ideal candidate would be someone who is enthusiastic, keen to learn and wants their professional work to make a real difference to our clients.

You will enjoy using a variety of approaches to find the best possible outcome, debating the issues and challenging the norms.  As soon as you’re presented with a problem, you are focused on how to resolve it, whatever it might be.

You don’t just tackle these things alone; you like to work with others, ask questions, build relationships with your colleagues and importantly, engage with clients to listen, explain and advise.  You enjoy breaking down and understanding complex ideas and applying your knowledge to solve real world problems.

We’d like you to be flexible and willing to travel as work requires; we are often based at our client’s sites or working collaboratively with them in their offices.

Overall, you get satisfaction from building relationships with others.  You enjoy getting to know people and working to have a positive impact– whether delivering directly or supporting others in their endeavors.

In addition to excellent communication and problem-solving skills, you will be able to demonstrate the following:

  • Degree qualified Civil or Structural Engineer
  • Some experience of working in a professional services environment
  • Some experience of working in the electricity supply industry
  • Working towards or having become professionally qualified with either the ICE or the IStructE
  • An understanding of practical steel and reinforced concrete design
  • A good understanding of structural engineering principles and structural behavior
  • Experience with engineering software packages
  • Experience of design and analysis for extreme loads such as seismic, blast and impact
