Atkins seeks an energetic and highly motivated self-starter to join our Denver, CO Software Development Group as a Senior Data Architect.


MAJOR FUNCTION/ROLE

Management of a team of data integration specialists responsible for building data warehouses, data lakes, and information systems for clients. Must be comfortable working 85-100% of the time in the field and with clients, and leading the design and coaching team members on effective data transformation techniques.

Role will not have direct reports but may manage workload of client resources, sub-consultants, and other Atkins staff as a consultant.

The person in this role must be comfortable performing integrations with a variety or relevant software systems


JOB DUTIES
  • Designs, supports, maintains, and manages information system applications for the company.
  • Supervises the performance and work production of a team made up of Application Developers to carry out the planning, development, and implementation of applications and systems in support of general business operations.
  • Oversees the work of others on single or multiple application systems.
  • Assists the supervisor in forecasting, reviewing and monitoring the unit budget.
  • Provides solutions to technical/business problems with organization-wide impact; contributes to the development of new concepts, techniques, and standards.
  • Coordinates various applications, including the review, evaluation, design, implementation, and maintenance of the company's databases.
  • Actively serves in quality control capacity, ensuring project delivery meets or exceeds client specifications and expectations.
  • Reviews and approves the design and end-to-end architecture of the core services, application services, presentation services, and security layer components.
  • Ensures that appropriate software development methodology is in place and adhered to, and that proper documentation is developed on all applications.
  • Performs other such duties as the supervisor may from time to time deem necessary.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor's degree with 10 years of experience in applications development and web development, and at least 3 years of supervisory experience.

  • Job requires knowledge of testing concepts, tools, and methodologies; strong technical and interpersonal skills; solid writing, analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to supervise others, provide leadership, and manage project production.
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and motivate professional staff.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to work effectively with managers and system users to assess needs and analyze problems.


PROFESSIONAL REGISTRATIONS
  • None.


ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
  • This role must be filled by someone with current experience leveraging Azure tools and their Amazon Web Services (AWS), and Google equivalents.
  • Most commonly used tools are currently SSIS, SSAS, and SSRS, in support of large data-laking and data warehousing exercises in support of clients.
  • Role may eventually require travel up to 10% of the time to work directly with clients.
  • Strong preference is given to candidates who have worked with analytics tools such as Alteryx, Talend, & PowerBI, and other integration services such as Mulesoft.
  • Integrations include connecting or staging primarily enterprise systems such as Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and financial systems, geo-spatial software such as ArcGIS, Google, and Mapbox, Program Management Software, and Asset Management Software.
  • Primary clients are municipal but may also support private sector clients.
