About the Team:

Atkins are proud to be working at the heart of the challenges in the energy industry and within our Power team we are continually developing and growing within this area. Our team is currently delivering work across the Transmission and Distribution sectors across the UK as well as supporting other Energy and infrastructure business sectors. We are in a position where we need to grow our team to enhance our capability and strengthen our service offering. As such we are recruiting Senior Engineers to join our Electrical Engineering team. 

What you’ll be doing:

You will be working in a senior position within our Electrical Engineering team based in Epsom, Leeds, Birmingham or Glasgow. Building strong and trusted relationships is a key part of this role. You’ll enjoy working with others, sometimes directly at client sites, sometimes from our offices. You’ll be client focused – being able interface with clients, understand their needs and convert opportunities into successful workstreams.

You’ll need to have

Qualifications:

Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualifications and experience

Chartered Engineer through the IET or working towards

Essential Criteria:

Relevant industrial experience in the Transmission or distribution sector

An understanding of the major engineering project and asset lifecycles

Good knowledge of electrical codes and standards and regulatory/financial incentives for transmission and distribution network investment in GB

Understanding of major project benchmarking and cost analysis

Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders

Maintain existing and develop new client relationships

Experience in leading a team and developing junior engineers

Flexibility to travel to client sites when required

Capability to work under tight deadlines while achieving objectives with the ability to deal with competing priorities and manage time appropriately

Desirable Criteria:

Experience in mentoring junior staff in task delivery

Experience in regulatory and technical due diligence (vendor or buyer side) of transmission and distribution network assets

Experience in business plan submissions for regulated utilities and/or innovation project developments

Track record in working safely on industrial and high hazard sites
