Offshore Wind at Atkins
It is an exciting time to be involved in Offshore wind, there are UK offshore wind targets to reach 30GW of generation by 2030, and similar ambitious goals in other countries around the world.
Atkins has been involved in offshore wind since its inception. We designed Scotland’s first offshore wind farm, and to date we have been involved in nearly 60 offshore windfarm developments around the globe.
We have;
- fully designed 19 offshore substation projects and over 300 offshore WTG foundations (both monopiles and jackets), have
- design experience on 11 floating offshore wind projects
- an involvement in the daily structural integrity management of over 1000 WTG structures.
Our current portfolio of projects spans around the globe, including; the UK, France, Germany, Taiwan, China, Australia and the US. We are actively working on some of the most challenging foundation solutions the offshore wind sector has experienced.
Atkins is well positioned to deliver market leading engineering solutions to clients around the world. With a track record underpinned by over 45 years of offshore engineering, we are well positioned to service our global clients and develop innovative design solutions to remain at the forefront of the Offshore Wind sector.
We are now in a position whereby we need to grow our existing multi-disciplinary team to enhance our capability and service offering, as such we require Senior Engineer to join our Offshore Wind team. Someone to help drive the delivery of our global portfolio of projects through the various levels of development (conceptual, FEED and detailed design projects) for major offshore wind assets together with developing innovative solutions for the operation and upgrade of existing assets.

What we’re looking for
We need individuals who can adapt, change and thrive when working in the dynamic and ever-changing conditions of the Offshore Wind Industry.
We want people that work well in teams, both locally and remote and engage with our clients and have a strong drive to deliver and succeed.
Role specific attributes include:
- Degree qualified in an appropriate discipline
- Chartered
- Experience of structural design (preferably offshore structures)
- Experience with structural design packages (preferably SESAM, ANSYS, FEA Packages)
- Experience of Structural Design codes (preferable offshore ones including ISO, DNVGL, IEC & NORSOK)
- Demonstrable experience of delivering scopes of work
- An ability to lead and manage teams, work packages and activities
- Strong communication skills
Additional Information
Some work outside normal office hours may be necessary . We work flexibly to support our projects and clients. This means travel to other offices or temporary secondments may sometimes be required,
We work in the UK and Globally, opportunities for international travel exist and applicants with a desire for non-UK based assignments are welcomed.
