Atkins North America, Inc. has an opening for a Senior Engineer (Water Resources) in Calverton, Maryland. Research, design, plan, and perform engineering duties for flood control facility design; perform hydrologic and hydraulic (H&H) analyses that conform to guidelines and specifications of the FEMA National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP); and complete floodplain mapping using results from analyses, digital terrain data, and industry specific software. Complete tasks related to water resources projects such as storm water planning and design, watershed master plans, transportation drainage plans, and activities related to Coordinated Needs Management Strategy (CNMS) data and validation of flood hazard data. Develop or complete engineering databases, reports, work maps, cost estimates, and job budgets. Requires a Master’s or equivalent degree in Civil Engineering and three (3) years of experience performing hydrologic and hydraulic analyses, floodplain mapping, and Coordinated Needs Management Strategy (CNMS) using HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, and ArcGIS, and performing project management duties including project budget management and monthly progress analysis and reporting. In lieu of a Master’s or equivalent degree plus three (3) years of experience as described above, employer will accept a Bachelor’s or equivalent degree in Civil Engineering plus five (5) years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience as described above. Position requires Professional Engineer (P.E.) license from any state.
