Atkins seeks an energetic and highly motivated self-starter to join our Jacksonville, FL Construction Management Group as a Senior Maintenance Field Inspector.

MAJOR FUNCTION/ROLE

Under general supervision, researches and interprets contract requirements to determine whether construction work is proceeding in substantial compliance with plans, contracts, specifications and special provisions.

NOTE: Incumbents do not supervise any contractors' activities and are not responsible for job site safety.

JOB DUTIES

Position will be working as an Maintenance Field Inspector at the Florida Department of Transportation in the St. Augustine/Jacksonville Maintenance Office conducting permit inspections.
Generally applies standard techniques, procedures and criteria in carrying out a sequence of specified technical tasks in the observation of construction projects of medium to large complexity.
This position will be embedded.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

High school diploma (or equivalent) plus ten years related experience OR an Associates Degree in a related technical field plus eight years related experience is required.

SPECIAL SKILLS

Ability to perform mathematical calculations and to understand contract plans and specifications.
Good oral communications skills and ability to organize information.

PROFESSIONAL REGISTRATIONS

No professional registration required.
May be required to obtain certification in nuclear density, aggregate, concrete and asphalt testing or other applicable areas.
