Our Mining & Metallurgy team is growing. As we re-structure to grow sustainably to serve our clients’ needs, we are looking for a Senior Minerals Process Engineer to add to our growing and talented team of process engineers and provide tailored process solutions across all phases of metallurgical projects, in ferrous and non-ferrous commodities. This individual will contribute to the leadership of the mineral process engineering department for North America.

How will you contribute to the team?

  • Set a leading example of safety and integrity in the workplace. Adheres, supports and promotes Company Quality Management System, HSE requirements, Ethics and Integrity policies and procedures.
  • Performs a business development function, leveraging on, and building on, their network of clients and experience, to attract new projects and contribute to the development of clients’ projects.
  • Participates in the preparation of competitive project proposals.
  • Will work on multiple process activities at a time, across all phase of the project lifecycle.
  • Must develop good working relations with their counterparts in industry, and promote the Company’s reputation as a leading engineering & design consulting firm.
  • Works well with and helps other engineers and process specialists on each of the phases of a project. Ensures a spirit of cooperation with colleagues across the different offices.
  • Performs a Process Lead role in mineral processing engineering studies and projects, maintaining the highest standards, commensurate with internal standards set by SNC-Lavalin.
  • Will perform process research and development to support client modernization and improvements. Will use strong analytical and logical thinking to find process solutions.
  • Will work in a multi disciplinary team and will contributes to highly technical and complex solutions.
  • Participation in conferences and seminars by supporting or leading the writing of technical papers, serving on technical panels and presenting at conferences.
  • Keep up-to-date with industry standards and technology related to the mining industry.  This also includes department engineering software updates and helps identify new techniques, and/or new tools to improve project efficiencies. Participates in developing innovative approaches to improve process work efficiencies. Maintain and develop technical skills.  
  • Leads the development of flowsheets, piping and instrumentation diagrams, mass and energy balances, process design criteria, technology package selections, optimization of process designs, using the latest developments in idustry.
  • Perform mineral process plant reviews, optimizations and debottlenecking studies on site, as well as at the office.  
  • Participates in technical audits on projects in accordance with the established QA program and ensures the timely implementation of all identified corrective actions.

What will you contribute?

  • Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in Metallurgical or Chemical Engineering from a recognized university.
  • P.Eng status in any Canadian province.
  • 13+ years relevant experience in the mining and metals industry including experience in process lead roles.
  • Strong ethical and integrity reputation with peers.
  • Experience in plant operations and commissioning.
  • Growth mindset. Enjoys significant technical challenges.
  • Excellent communicator.
  • Must possess broad experience in both process driven studies as well as in the execution of multi-discipline engineering work on large / complex projects across the complete Project lifecycle.
  • Knowledge of the latest and best practices for process design safety methodologies.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
