This role offers the opportunity to lead road safety projects across Wales and South West England for our key national and local government clients.  Alongside delivering projects you’ll have the opportunity to develop future work opportunities as well as guiding and developing team members.

You’ll be based at either our Cardiff or Bristol office but with some travel to other Atkins locations within the region to ensure you can deliver value for our clients.

Key responsibilities

• Supporting technical delivery of road safety engineering projects, road safety audits and road safety risk assessments and key technical input into wider multi-disciplinary projects locally, nationally and internationally.
• Technical skills development of staff within the team to aid their progression.
• Project management and delivery.
• Act as a Technical Reviewer on projects.
• Maintaining and developing excellent client relationships.

  Key requirements

• BEng, MEng or MSc Degree or equivalent.
• Highways England-approved Certificate in Road Safety Auditing.
• Membership of relevant technical institutions – e.g. ICE, CIHT, CILT, SoRSA etc.
• Extensive experience of working with our key clients, e.g. Local Authorities, Highways England, SWTRA, Welsh Government, Developers and/or major Contractors.
• Demonstrable experience of managing project delivery of road safety related projects.
• Experience as road safety audit team leader on motorway and trunk road schemes.
• The ability to be flexible in terms of project delivery and working locations.
• Ability to manage multiple stakeholder and client relationships.
• A good understanding of the UK road safety engineering market and geography.
