Faithful+Gould is looking to recruit a high calibre Senior Project Manager for its Project Management and specialist Workplace Transformation Team in Birmingham.  The successful candidate will join an established team of project management and workplace consultants and will play a key role in implementing our strategy for growth in key market sectors in the Midlands and across the UK.

You will demonstrate a proven track record in delivering effective and efficient project management services to clients, ideally within the UK.  You will show a commitment to continuous improvement through learning and development and help to develop new business opportunities as you broaden your experience and deepen your client understanding.  You will be eager to contribute to our strategic growth and initiatives that develop or technical excellence.

Key Attributes:

  • Able to demonstrate a clear understanding the workplace transformation / change management project process.  It is desirable that this understanding is informed by direct experience of all phases of the workplace project lifecycle.  If this experience is not through direct management then supporting others who have will be beneficial.
  • Experience managing and or supporting commercial property and estates departments with wide stakeholder groups in large multifaceted organisations is extremely desirable but not essential.  An ability to digest, plan and prepare multiple project inputs to develop a masterplan (budget, resource & time) will be an invaluable asset to support the team in successfully delivering a challenging volume of work.
  • Recent Client facing Project Management consultancy experience within the Development, Property, Commercial offices sectors is highly desirable.
  • A highly motivated and collaborative Project Management Practitioner experienced in delivering best practice Project Management methodology on larger and more complex projects.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills to proactively lead multi-disciplinary project teams.
  • The ability to articulate workplace transformation and built environment knowledge and technical excellence to Clients, stakeholders and colleagues.
  • Have solid experience of if not the direct management of the challenge of driving physical and cultural change and best practice within a mature client organisation.
  • Work closely and effectively with our change and engagement manager to identify key business priorities and objectives in order to influence stakeholders and others impacted by workplace change, simplifying and resolving issues in a pragmatic and sensitive manner.
  • Possess excellent communication skills and experience of managing team communications, able to communicate with tact and discretion whilst aligning any formal communications with the  corporate communications department.
  • Experience in either property strategy planning or facilities management, offering development or IT improvement projects would be beneficial from an administration and data organisation perspective.
  • Decisive, challenging and a strong influencer with resilience and the determination to succeed.
  • Ability to effectively support the delivery of diverse projects for clients and stakeholders with wide ranging requirements, across multiple geographical locations.
  • Confident to challenge service levels and financial spend.

Responsibilities:

Specific workplace transformation responsibilities:

  • Understand, develop and eventually own the internal portfolio of workplace transformation across the Corporate Estate.  This includes working with the programme lead to develop a suite of programme governance to plan project finance, project schedules (including an overarching master programme) and project resource plans.
  • Work closely with our stakeholder engagement manager to understand the internal client organisation communications plan and stakeholder group leads. 
  • Attend engagement meetings with key stakeholders to develop relationships and understand requirements first-hand prior to taking a leading role in defining scope, procuring works and delivering outcomes.
  • Proactively plan project resource appropriate to the type, size and scope of project, engage wider consultant services such as  QS, Interior designers, acousticians, MEP etc to define project scope information and financial information  to support governance requirements.
  • Establish and build positive and collaborative relationships with all project stakeholders in accordance with Faithful+Gould's values and in alignment with the group/shared values of Atkins and SNCL.
  • Provide summary reports of current and planned projects (utilise consultant resource to prepare outline designs, performance specifications etc to inform cost plans that include forecast cost against budgets.

Project management responsibilities:

  • Lead projects of various size from inception to completion with minimal support from senior colleagues.
  • Act as lead Client interface in providing service delivery, demonstrating your role as a key stakeholder and first point of contact.
  • Lead the management and execution of construction projects through the whole project life cycle, utilising best practice methodology.
  • Responsibility for the commercial success of projects placed under your control; including the effective and efficient management of project accounts, governance and resource requirements.
  • Ensuring service delivery compliance with Faithful+Gould's policies, and standards.
  • Provide guidance, leadership and technical expertise to team members.
  • Work with colleagues to mentor, coordinate and support the development activities of junior team members.

Wider responsibilities:

  • Supporting the development of new business opportunities in line with business strategy and looking for market opportunities for new or repeat business.
  • Lead or support on the preparation of fee proposals and bid submissions.

Requirements:

  • Degree qualification (or equivalent) in a construction and or workplace change related discipline.
  • A professional member of a recognised professional institution (MRICS, MAPM or equivalent).
  • A positive, collaborative and innovative approach able to work on your own initiative.
  • Experience of building positive Client relationships and business networks.
  • Experience of leading multi-disciplinary teams & delivering successful projects through a recognised project management methodology
  • Sound technical project management knowledge demonstrating established experience and aptitude.
  • Experience of administering standard UK building contracts (NEC and JCT forms) and ability to advise on appropriate procurement routes is essential.
  • Thorough understanding of Health & Safety and Environmental legislation relevant to the UK construction industry.
  • Committed to ongoing personal development.
  • A valid UK driving licence.
