The Senior Rail Communications Engineer will be based out of our office in Los Angeles, California and reports to our Senior Intermodal Division Manager. The Senior Rail Communications Engineer is responsible for site inspections, witness testing, technical coordination and general support of rail communication systems including SCADA, CCTV, PA, VMS, Radio, Fiber Backbone, etc.

How will you contribute to the team?

Supervises execution, configuration, testing and commissioning activities.
Conducts site inspections and witness testing.
Supports other functions including quality, claims, project controls as needed.
Creates and maintains program plans, manages/tracks specifications, design and construction submittals, and related documents.
Manages of scope and schedule for project tasks.
Performs such other duties as the Supervisor may deem necessary from time to time.

What will you contribute?

B.S. or M.S. in Engineering preferred (Electrical Engineering preferred). This level may be achieved with fifteen years experience since Bachelor's or fourteen years since Master's. In lieu of a degree, 20 years of theoretical and applied experience in similar positions as technical lead for Rail Communications Systems. Typical incumbent has 20+ years of experience.
Registration as a licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) is generally required. However, extensive experience may be substituted in lieu of licensing.
Thorough knowledge of a major transit signal system. Strong quantitative, analytical, problem solving, decision-making skills, and critical-thinking abilities. Strong persuasive ability, technical writing and communications skills are expected at this level, proven through technical presentations, technical papers and/or participation in technical committees. May be eligible for project management training.
Experience with final design packages including design criteria, drawings, specifications and construction drawing packages.
Experience with testing and commissioning.
