Kent are looking for outstanding candidates to join our successful Oil & Gas division within our Engineering and Consulting Services business. Within the Oil & Gas division, our services are focused on upstream operations engineering (i.e., maintaining safe and efficient operations for operators), and offshore engineering - encompassing fixed, floating, and subsea facilities. Having worked on over 1,000 oil and gas installations around the world, we are now the operators’ ‘go to’ company for difficult challenges in engineering, operations, life extension, and ultimately decommissioning, which is expected to be a growing market.

We have some 800 experts worldwide. Our structural Oil & Gas team works on some of the most exciting and varied projects in the onshore and offshore Oil and Gas sector, including front end design, consultancy studies, integrity management of topsides and subsea structures of fixed and floating assets, and decommissioning.

Our structural team also spans across the Offshore Wind and Low Carbon sectors, so there will additionally be scope to contribute to associated projects within these markets.

This opportunity is to provide day-to-day operational support to our clients’ assets, including live support and offshore enactment. We are looking for senior candidates of levels from Senior Engineer to Principal Engineer.

The Role

In your role, you will support the delivery of structural projects for all types of assets for key North Sea clients for all types of offshore structures including fixed, floating, and subsea structures. You will be working as part of an integrated team covering client interaction and delivery from multiple locations. This will include everything from hand calculations and written reports, to linear and non-linear analysis work. You will be also be responsible for guiding and mentoring junior engineers.

Other responsibilities include:

Working with others to identify and develop new technical methodologies.

Contributing to and executing our structural business strategy, including supporting growth initiatives domestically and overseas. Working with others to develop an integrated asset integrity management strategy.

Building and maintaining client relationships, with a view to winning more work. Contributing to successful proposals and tenders.

Developing your capabilities in line with the requirements of organization career paths.

Day-to-day operational support to client engineers including representing the company at meetings, production of deliverables, and presentations.

Liaison and interacting with other disciplines such as corrosion and materials, process engineering, and subsea engineering for the delivery of day-to-day tasks.

A detailed understanding and compliance with relevant codes and standards.

Our Engineering and Consulting Services business is delivering engineering, design, and consultancy solutions to the renewables, low carbon, and oil and gas sectors all over the world. Although your role will focus on the Oil & Gas market, you may also be called upon to support projects in other markets, such as supporting our industry-leading work in the offshore wind market.

You will also have a range of the following desirable experience and attributes.

Key Attributes

Ideally Chartered (ICE, IMechE, IStructE etc), or actively working towards chartership.

Leadership and Communication

Drive safe and efficient delivery of technically challenging projects.

Cultural awareness and emotional intelligence needed to communicate effectively with a diverse set of internal and external stakeholders.

Can provide training and mentoring to junior engineers.

Ability to maintain existing and develop new client relationships.

Has a desire to innovate and enhance the efficiency of structural designs.

Experience in Oil & Gas

Proven success in structural projects against external and internal time, cost, and quality objectives. Experience in participating in appropriate project governance and project management reporting.

Management, assessment and analysis of designs, modifications, and anomalies.

Offshore structural analysis experience of jackets, floating and subsea systems – particularly using SESAM software – is preferred.

Design and Analytical skills

Working knowledge of offshore structural engineering and relevant Oil & Gas design codes.

Offshore structural analysis experience of jackets, floating and subsea systems – particularly using SESAM software – is preferred.

Technical understanding of environmental wave loading and/or vessel motions is preferred.

Linear and non-linear FEA experience in ABAQUS and USFOS and other comparable software packages is preferred.

Delivery Background

Ability to report, interpret, and communicate the engineering implications of complex analysis results to colleagues and clients, including the implications of problems encountered in the delivery of work.

Ability to solve complex technical problems.

Ability to lead delivery of quality deliverables to schedule and budget.

Able to travel locally and internationally to meet with internal and external stakeholders as required.

We are actively recruiting across all of our UK offices (Aberdeen, Bristol, Edinburgh, Epsom, London) and are open to the successful candidate’s preferred location

We support flexible working arrangements and can discuss how we can accommodate individual requirements. This role can be considered on a part-time or full-time basis.

Travel to other company and client sites may occasionally be necessary as part of the role.

Successful candidates may be required to undergo a security vetting process in which case offers of employment will be subject to relevant security clearance being granted.
