The Role:

Joining our Engineering & Consulting business, you will have the opportunity to work on a variety of interesting and exciting projects. As part of our highly experienced Subsea and Pipeline Engineering team, you will provide value adding, specialist engineering support to our clients.

You will contribute to a wide variety of project work, including:

  • Conceptual studies and examination of challenging marginal, HPHT, or deepwater subsea developments in the Oil & Gas sector.
  • Design and analysis of CO2 and H2 onshore and offshore pipelines in the Low Carbon sector.
  • Subsea cable analysis in the Offshore Wind sector.

Using non-linear FE methods, you can help solve diverse and complex subsea pipeline and subsea cable problems during design and operation, including global buckling, spanning, uprating studies, and defect and anomaly assessments.

You will contribute to the development of new technical methodologies and evaluation techniques. You will build and maintain client relationships, and contribute to successful proposals and tenders, with a view to winning more work. The role will enable you to develop your capabilities in line with the Kent career paths.

The Person:

Your co-operative and helpful attitude will enable you to build client relationships and to work with colleagues to develop cross-discipline capabilities. You will have the ability to cope with stimulating problems and flexibility to adapt to discrete situations. You will have the potential and desire to progress to Principal Engineer status and beyond. Other key requirements include:

  • Proven success in delivering studies and preparing clear, concise reports against time, cost, and quality objectives.
  • Understanding of the fundamentals of subsea and pipeline engineering, and of regulatory frameworks, codes, and standards.  Understanding of global buckling, limit states, and HPHT issues is considered advantageous.
  • Experience of concept / feasibility design studies for subsea developments; experience of FEED is considered advantageous.
  • Experience of pipeline analysis to support design and operations; in-depth knowledge of finite element methods is considered advantageous.
  • Experience in the design and analysis of subsea cables in considered advantageous.
  • Experience in the design and assessment of CO2 and H2 onshore and offshore pipelines in considered advantageous.
  • Engineering degree (honours or equivalent) in mechanical, structural, civil, naval architecture or similar engineering discipline.
  • Chartered status (or working towards) is considered advantageous.
  • Enthusiasm to redefine existing practices, improve technical methodologies and evaluation techniques.
  • Self-motivated, enthusiastic, reliable, and mature approach to work.
  • Willingness to develop wider skills and flexibility to work on variety of projects.
