H&T division of Atkins in India supports Atkins’ various overseas operations, including those located in the India, UK, Europe, Middle East and Hong Kong. The team comprises Transport Planners, Bridge Engineers, Highways Engineers, CAD Technicians, Drainage Engineers and Virtual Reality specialists.
Due to our continuing expansion we currently have an opportunity for Senior Transport Planner on multi-disciplinary offshore executed projects from our India office.
A vacancy exists for an experienced Senior transport planner to work on microsimulation modelling projects based from Gurgaon. We are looking for a highly capable and motivated individual with a proven record in microsimulation modelling and commensurate project management expertise. The role will involve working on a range of transport modelling projects as part of a team of consultants with a focus on UK based clients and projects. It is expected that the individual will also work on a range of transport modelling projects outside UK including India and ME.
Working in a multi-disciplinary team of Planners, Designers and Engineers providing a professional design service to our clients, this is an ideal opportunity for individuals looking to develop their international experience in a world renowned consultant.
The team has so far delivered excellence within a number of studies from around the world, including the UK, ME and China. This has been based upon the successful use of technically innovative and progressive procedures in tandem with a core technical capability
Responsibilities:
You will be part of an established transport planning team developing and applying computer-based transport models (micro-simulation & junction assessment ) using state-of-the-art transport modelling software supported by Geographic Information Systems (GIS ) tools.
You will be part of a team responsible for the technical development of transport modelling projects comprising:

Technical development of project tasks, and development of tools and processes
-
Development and checking of models and model forecasts, reports and analyses including quality and delivery to timescales

Apply Atkins Quality, Safety & Environmental (QSE) standards and Business Management System (BMS)
As part of a team, you will also be responsible for reporting progress and output quality, as well as developing business improvement initiatives with your line manager.
Essential Requirements:

Appropriate academic and professional qualifications (preferably Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering with Masters degree in transport planning / engineering)

Relevant previous experience in one or more of the following software for building models or scheme assessment: VISSIM, PARAMICS, LINSIG,SYNCHRO,TRANSYT & JUNCTION 8 software packages

Proven experience in preparing transport models in line with industry standards and best practice such as (but not limited to) TfL Modelling Guidelines and Model Audit Process.
Desirable Requirements:

Work experience in a similar off-shoring environment

Experience in conducting technical quality audits of internal and 3rd party models

Project Management experience of complex transport modelling and scheme appraisal studies including managing project teams at distance and client engagement.

Appreciation of UTC/SCOOT and/or signal control methods.

Experience in report writing related to transport studies

Experience of business development activities, including the writing of bid documents and fee proposals.

Proven experience of programming capabilities including Visual Basic and other software packages appropriate for use with computer based transport and land use models.

Ability to train and impart knowledge to junior team members through structured and on the job training.

Additional experience in other softwares and add-ons such as VisVAP, VisWalk, VISUM and Saturn.
