Senior Unity Developer

We are looking to recruit a talented Senior Unity Developer to support a growing team of developers based in Birmingham. 

The successful candidate will be working to develop a variety of interactive experiences, including VR and AR, to communicate and interact with engineering and architectural design. You should have a good understanding of the Unity development environment and be passionate about developing your skills further. 
You will be part of the Creative Design practice, who are based in key locations throughout the UK, consisting of 50+ talented designers, developers and visualisers who provide a professional visual communication service to its UK and worldwide markets. We deliver world class interactive solutions to a wide range of Atkins clients including EDF, Highways England, Environment Agency and HS2.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Collaborate effectively with a high energy team of developers and producers and help lead our interactive developers to produce high quality digital experiences. 

  • Develop new C# program solutions for Unity and advance existing code-base to incorporate new systems and features 

  • Ensure consistent quality and performance. 

  • Track time spent on project tasks and communicate with project leads and account handlers. 

  • Communicate improvements with the team to help develop skills. 

  • Research new capabilities and how to integrate these into existing systems 

  • Follow and maintain outlined coding standards and practices within the team and creating documentation when appropriate 

Required skills and experience 

  • 5+ years’ experience.

  • BSc in Computer Science or equivalent 

  • Can demonstrate significant contribution to completed projects 

  • Strong knowledge of the Unity engine and able to write C# and design with an OOP approach 

  • Strong maths and problem-solving skills. 

  • Knowledge of profiling and optimisation techniques 

  • Knowledge of 3D file formats, concepts and techniques. 

  • Experience using GIT source control 

  • Experience with VR platforms and hardware. 

  • Experience with Database platforms and external API’s 

  • Knowledge of REST architecture.

Additional Skills 

  • Understanding animation principles. 

  • Experience with mobile platforms. 

  • Experience with 3D modelling and texturing or CAD tools. 

  • Experience with web solutions including Microsoft Azure 

  • Experience with Unity’s UI systems and UI programming.

  • Experience with additional Languages (C++, Python, JavaScript, etc) 

  • Use of other real time packages such as Unreal engine.

  • Experience with creating shaders.
