Atkins’ UK Transportation business brings together the capabilities of our Rail, Highway and Local Transport teams, into a single business of 3,000 talented transport planners and engineering professionals. The transportation infrastructure sector is experiencing unprecedented levels of investment and Atkins is playing lead roles in projects to upgrade existing transport networks to deliver future demand including major new road schemes, high-speed rail as well as extensive public transport enhancements. Consultants from Atkins and their partners in the supply chain, are working with government, local authorities, contractors and private developers to develop our future cities and infrastructure.

The Role:

We are recruiting an experienced Wayfinding Consultant for our Transport Planning business and would like to discuss this exciting opportunity with prospective candidates. Collaborating with specialists from across the company, the Atkins Wayfinding team provides award-winning design services to public and private sector clients across a broad range of environments, including airports, rail stations, cities/towns, schools/universities, galleries, retail areas and office spaces. 

We’re a successful team with a well-balanced blend of skills to face our client needs. We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to add further value to our offer to the marketplace and help deliver existing and future projects. Our team provides the full range of wayfinding design solutions to clients, including high level scheme strategies, signposting and sign placement strategies, graphic design and product design. Looking at complex projects from every angle, you’ll help our clients find the best solutions to their wayfinding challenges.

We have a network of offices across the UK but we are particularly keen to hear from candidates who would be typically based in London, Birmingham or Manchester.

The Candidate:

We have an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and driven individual to join our Wayfinding team.  Successful applicants will be flexible, driven and expected to demonstrate a capability in the following:

  • Excellent communication with strong report writing capability.
  • Ability to work under pressure and proven success in meeting deadlines.
  • Confident team worker with ability to work independently.
  • Experience of working to time and budget constraints.

Candidates will be expected to demonstrate technical skills and competencies such as:

  • Demonstrable project and people management skills.
  • Experience in business development and work winning.
  • Experience in developing a range of wayfinding solutions to meet varying client requirements.
  • Software skills in Adobe InDesign and Adobe Illustrator.
