Atkins seeks an energetic and highly motivated self-starter to join our Ft. Lauderdale, FL Software Development Group as a Software Developer.

MAJOR FUNCTION/ROLE

Under supervision, performs basic software programming and/or customization in support of projects that meet clients' software development needs. At this level, applies standard programming practices and techniques while developing professional proficiency.

JOB DUTIES

Generally applies standard techniques and established procedures and criteria in carrying out a sequence of diversified software development tasks, requiring analysis, interpretation, and deductive reasoning.
May participate in client needs analyses.
May participate in collection, conversion, and assembly of data in a variety of formats.
Develops customized applications by writing well-documented code in the applicable environment to meet documented software requirements.
Performs maintenance tasks on existing projects following the project’s established architecture/design.
Prepares data documentation for projects.
Maintains continued knowledge of technology developments in the field and use of applicable programming languages.
Performs such other duties as the Supervisor may from time to time deem necessary.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

B.S. or B.A. in Computer Science, IT-related discipline or four years relevant computer programming experience after degrees in Engineering or other related disciplines.
Minimal experience is required of incumbents with directly related Bachelor's degree.
Non-degreed practitioners must demonstrate at least six years of direct experience in lieu of degree.

SPECIAL SKILLS

Must be familiar with IT technology in general and possess programming skills in one or more of the following software packages/programming languages: C#, Java, C, Visual Basic, HTML, VBA, JavaScript and/or similar, with ability and willingness to learn others not exposed to as yet.
Should have good interpersonal skills and be capable of developing technical writing and other communications skills as needed.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Experience desired in different aspects of software development.
Candidates looking to break into full-stack development preferred.
