TransitNEXT is a wholly owned subsidiary of SNC-Lavalin. As the sole proponent in the TransitNEXT team, SNC-Lavalin is awarded the design, build, finance and maintenance of the new extension, and will also assume responsibility for the long-term maintenance of the existing Trillium Line.

Join TransitNEXT and become part of The Trillium Line Extension project, expanding and enhancing transit services in Ottawa.

As part of the Trillium project based in Ottawa, we are looking for a qualified Standard Operation Procedures Lead.  The incumbent’s primary purpose will be to provide dedicated procedure, plan, and manual development for the maintenance and operational support of the Trillium Systems.

How will you contribute to the team?

  • Develop, in consultation with the client (City of Ottawa), standard operating and maintenance procedures for the client’s review and acceptance

  • Incorporate as required the provisions of the Safety Management System, Security Management System, Capital Railway rules, and regulations governing the Operation and Maintenance of the System).

  • Create technical and operating instructions in additional to the creation of how-to manuals

  • Assist Capital Railway in updating procedures and identifying new mandatory procedures to be followed by the client and the Project.

  • Coordinate with the client and participate in technical working group meeting s with the client and Capital Railway

  • Coordinate with the Project Training, Rules and Regulations, Safety Assurance and Maintenance teams respectively

  • Work closely with the schedulers to ensure all SOPs are planned and delivered in a timely manner

What will you contribute?

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Rail where specialized equipment is in use

  • Experience with technical writing specifically in the development of operations plans, procedures and maintenance plans required.

  • Experience in project engineering or system engineering

  • Ability to perform a procedure needs assessment, understanding and applying subsystem component details that need procedures, and developing procedure scope and objectives

  • Able to articulate design parameters into operational procedures, and provide operational oversight to ensure systems are operated and maintained within those parameters

  • Ability to validate procedures against scope, safety requirements, field equipment, working environment, activities, and objectives

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications

  • Knowledge of Canadian rail transit regulation and standards

  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree required to perform this job
