We are looking to hire talented people with a track record of delivering projects. You may have started your career at another consultancy and are looking to move somewhere with a different approach which is more tailored to client need. Alternatively, you may have successfully delivered projects from within a company and now feel ready to expand your own skills and work in a more project-based way to advise others. Potential candidates should have demonstrable experience of applying a Systematic Approach to Training (SAT) (e.g. DSAT/ADDIE) and possess the skills to transfer this experience between the defence and civil sectors.

Consultant level - for those with existing training consultancy experience, or for those who are looking to transfer significant previous experience into a consultancy environment.  Senior consultants will be the technical lead for complex training projects, managing all elements of the task including stakeholder engagement, risk identification and mitigation, budgetary reporting, and staff management/leadership.  Alternatively, a senior consultant may be the training lead into wider multi-disciplinary teams for the delivery of complex programmes.

Consultants can expect to work independently or as a part of a multi-disciplinary team and will be expected to display the following characteristics:

  • A passion for developing technically, professionally and behaviourally.
  • Team leadership,
  • Delivers excellent results and operates to high behavioural standards and business ethics.
  • An ability to deal with competing tasks and operate successfully even when under pressure.
  • A strong emotional intelligence and the ability to flex your style to suit different stakeholders and are confident and self-assured in putting forward your views and able to hold your own with senior stakeholders.

Skills / Qualifications

Essential:

  • The successful candidate will be given significant responsibility for client-facing work from day one. All our consultants are expected to have regular interactions with clients, to lead work-streams or projects, or to support senior colleagues in delivering specific project outputs. We therefore ask that you demonstrate your capability and experience, or potential capability, across four dimensions of Technical Excellence, Commercial Acumen, Interpersonal Skills and Stakeholder Interaction.
  • You have a variety of consulting capabilities and techniques to suit different situations and different stages of the training lifecycle. As a senior consultant you will have significant demonstrable experience in the analysis, design, development and evaluation of training, and the ability to apply relevant tools and techniques to support training project delivery.
  • You will be able to clearly articulate the benefits of employing all areas of the training cycle to internal and external stakeholders.
  • You can demonstrate key leadership skills with a proven ability to communicate and engage at all levels with a variety of stakeholders including senior management.
  • You will have a demonstrable ability to coach and mentor colleagues in all aspects of the training cycle.
  • You will have sector experience relevant to the SNC Lavalin core markets e.g. Defence, Transportation, Nuclear, Power Generation.
  • You have excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to present information, which is compelling, engaging and unambiguous.
  • You demonstrate a high level of problem-solving ability in relation to technically complex or conceptually abstract ideas and be able to present complex solutions and concepts effectively and make persuasive cases based on analysis.
  • You are proactive in your approach to work and enjoy working with a variety of people as well as being comfortable with progressing work independently.
  • You build trusted and lasting relationships with clients and colleagues, at all levels, in a business environment.

Desirable:

  • You have strong commercial acumen and are comfortable with managing bids, and developing technical and commercial solutions.
  • Ideally you will have relevant industry/manufacturing sector experience.
  • You will have a good knowledge of common software applications such as Microsoft Office.
  • You will hold a membership to a relevant training/L&D Organisation/Institute and be degree qualified.
