Vice-President, Business Development

Reporting to the Senior Vice-President of Marketing & Business Development within the Nuclear Canada Sector of SNC-Lavalin Inc., you will set the strategy and execution plan for all business development activities.  You will lead a team of energetic and motivated Account Managers and Account Directors, each responsible for a portfolio of existing and prospective customers.

The new VP, Business Development will have significant senior level experience and will have a proven track record of successful business development, project development and delivery of profitable business growth. Assets would include having had previous P&L experience and must be comfortable dealing with senior professionals across multiple disciplines ranging from engineering, procurement and construction through to business development, finance and administration.


The successful candidate must be able to build and nurture new and existing business relationships and be comfortable presenting SNC’s vision, strategy and value proposition to existing and potential customers. This individual must be a strong leader with a significant action orientation and an aggressive approach to achieving key deliverables.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership, coaching and mentoring to grow and develop all team members

  • Work with the other senior leaders of the Nuclear Canada business unit to evaluate customer relationship management processes, account acquisition and development strategies and continuously evaluate customer feedback at all levels.

  • Participate in setting the targets and achievement of business unit strategic and annual operating plan objectives and lead new business development efforts for the unit across globe;

  • Coach and develop direct reports and support their account management efforts.

  • Coach and support staff members in the development of project and customer capture plans

  • Champion the use of the Nuclear Canada CRM system (BWS+), and develop data integrity, reporting and decision-making standards that drive pipeline development and deal capture.

  • Leverage data from CRM, Project Delivery, and other external sources to develop and maintain a Business Intelligence system (BI) for market guidance, insights and intelligent actions on various strategies.

  • Act as role model to ensure adherence to all health, safety and environment policies and programs.

  • Act as a role model for the Company’s Values, abide by the SNC-Lavalin Code of Business Conduct , Diversity & Inclusion, Ethics and Compliance and facilitate organizational relationships internally and externally

Qualifications:

  • At minimum, the ideal candidate will have either a Professional Engineer designation with a University degree in applied science or a related discipline or Masters’ level qualifications in related fields.

  • Highly motivated, energetic and hands-on professional with strong leadership skills who can guide, motivate and engage team members at all levels of the organization

  • Previous success in collaborating with multiple stakeholders with varying interests to reach mutually beneficial outcomes.

  •  A strategic planner with demonstrated skill and success in business development

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills – ability to adjust messaging to all levels of stakeholders and establish strong client/employee relationships

  • Strong quantitative/analytical skills

  • Strong financial analysis skills

  • Strategic thinker and agile problem solver, while simultaneously driving a rigorous, data-driven approach to understanding the environment and driving for results.

  • Excellent public speaking skills in front of small or large groups

  • Team oriented

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to meet tight deadline
