Atkins is assisting DSB to obtain 30 new electrically powered locomotives and new coaches. The objective is to procure standardized locomotives, which provide a more reliable and eco friendly rail service for Danish passengers.

End to End Expertise

In collaboration with project partners, Vestergård Consulting, TÜV Rheinland, our team is providing advice throughout the entire process. We’re responsible for planning, functional specification, tendering, procurement, testing, and commissioning the new locomotives.

Our teams helped to develop the initial business case, validating the acquisition of the new locomotives, and identifying target routes.

The functional specification for the procurement included technical requirements and maintenance requirements. During the first phase, we conducted a market analysis, and prepared requirements for an operation concept, maintenance strategy, and Reliability, Accessibility & Maintainability (RAM).

We are also designing a robust evaluation model to ensure the procurement process meets all the commissioning authorities’ requirements, with heavy focus on safety approvals.

Towards A More Sustainable Society

As part of the UN Global Compact, DSB has ambitious plans to offer more sustainable services to its customers. We are proud to be part of this exciting project, driving positive change across Denmark.
