The Buildings and Facilities group in Toronto provide mechanical and electrical design for all types of buildings in the commercial, institutional, recreational and multi-residential market. Our clients and projects are varied and diverse.  The office is a high energy workspace where we work closely as a team to meet the requirements and deadlines of our clients.

We currently have many mixed-use projects with residential towers combined with office and retail areas, as well as many projects in the health care, institutional and retail sectors.

We are looking for an Intermediate Mechanical Engineer to join our growing team in North York, ON.

Your role within the team

  • Independent design of small and medium projects and portions of larger complex projects.
  • Prepare mechanical specifications, provide site take-offs. Attend meetings for the projects.
  • Obtain information from equipment suppliers and incorporate in designs and specifications.
  • Co-ordinate with Utilities and Municipalities regarding incoming services.
  • Independent review of shop drawings. Assist in drafting in AutoCAD on an as needed basis as well as Revit modelling.
  • Provide technical directions to junior designers and CAD operators.
  • Dealing with Contractor issues during construction.

The ideal candidate

  • University Degree in Mechanical Engineering. Registered as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng) with PEO.
  • Minimum of 5 years-experience in Mechanical design for buildings, including HVAC, plumbing, drainage and fire protection. Familiarity with design requirements.
  • Working knowledge of all applicable building codes and industry standards.
  • Effective communication and inter-personal skills. Commitment to working in a team environment. Ability to work on several projects at one time.
  • Extensive skills with AUTOCAD, Word, Acrobat & Excel (REVIT and other design tools an asset).
