AtkinsRéalis’ is in search of a Traffic / Transportation Management Lead for the Calgary Green Line Project. This position would ultimately be responsible for chairing the Transportation Management Committee for the project.
The Green Line LRT (light rail transit) Project is the largest infrastructure investment in Calgary’s history. It comes with $5.5 billion in commitments from the Government of Canada, Government of Alberta and The City of Calgary. The Green Line LRT is designed to be both a transit system and a platform for future city building opportunities. It encourages redevelopment and investment in Calgary businesses and communities. At 18-kms, Phase 1 will create 20,000 jobs, $2.2B in long-term city-shaping benefits and more than $6B in property value uplift by 2040.
You will be embedded within the client office team environment, and as such you are required to be in downtown Calgary, for the full working week.
Your role within the team:
- Develop an overarching Transportation Management Plan that addresses the approach to overseeing the coordination and interface of the individual Transportation Management Plans required to be submitted by each contractor for the purpose of managing any self-directed City work, contractor interfaces and risk mitigation;
- Coordinate all Transportation Management Activities across the various Green Line contracts to ensure interfaces are effectively managed and resolve conflicts or disputes between contracts when they arise;
- Be the representative with the City’s Mobility to set out prioritization of Temporary Traffic Controls and related permitting activities to support the effective management of the various Green Line contracts;
- Have the overall responsibility to ensure compliance of, and implementation on “self-directed” Early Works of the requirements set out in the Project Agreement(PA)
- Ensure contractor compliance to the PA in regards to traffic control operations
- Carry out emergency traffic control operations
- Be responsible for coordinating a transportation management committee (“Transportation Management Committee”)

The ideal candidate:
- A degree in Engineering and registered PEng with APEGA
- At least 10 years of relevant experience in transportation design and management for large, complex construction projects through urban areas.
- demonstrated experience in applying for Road Permits and the use of the City of Calgary’s ‘ePermit’ system.
- Demonstrated experience and capabilities in the use of the City of Calgary's Temporary Traffic Controls Manual.
- Experience using traffic modeling software – Synchro and Vissim
