Your role

Join us as a placement student in our Intelligent Mobility and Smart Technologies practice and be part of something big. We have a growing range of clients, and we need many different skills and capabilities to deliver projects for them. We believe that diversity is the key to success and makes us stand out from the crowd, and therefore are searching for students with a variety of degree types and backgrounds to join our team.

In our team, you’ll have a role in delivering the technology systems that manage and optimise tomorrow’s transport infrastructure, driving innovative projects from adaptive traffic signals and smart motorways to control centres and real-time passenger information. There’s also the opportunity to get involved with the design proof of concepts and run trials to test what the future of travel will look like. You might have heard of projects called Flourish and Venturer - these are real examples of putting early design driverless cars to the test and tackling the real questions around public acceptance, safety, insurance and end-user experience. As one of the team, we'll trust you to help our clients make the right decisions to best realise their development goals.

Industrial year location: Birmingham
Degree requirements: On track to achieve a minimum of a 2.1 Bachelor’s or 2.2 Master’s in Engineering, Transport Economics, Transport Planning and Management, Maths, Geography, Human Factors

Intelligent Mobility and Smart Technologies will transform people's journeys and the movement of goods, whilst increasing the efficiency, sustainability and safety of our transport systems and cities worldwide.

So, it calls for diverse expertise including Engineering, Planning, Humanities, Sciences and Maths. For postgraduate students disciplines of interest include, but are not limited to: Behavioural/organisational psychology (MSc), Transport management, Air transport management, Logistics (MSc), Ergonomics (MSc), Smart cities, (MSc), Digital technologies (MSc), Intelligent vehicles (MSc), Risk management (MSc).
