The Infrastructure-Major Projects business unit is looking for a Cost Controller to join our team for a current  Design & Build project in Canada. Your primary role will be to capture and provide a realistic picture of project’s costs, monitor the progress and forecast cost to go. Another responsibility is to support project delivery managers and procurement to undertake their scope. Strong interpersonal skills and collaboration with management team and key stakeholders is a must for this position.

How will you contribute to the team?

To perform this role successfully, the candidate will be responsible for but not limited to the following:

  • Ensure actual costs are representative of the value of the work done, which also includes working closely with construction, procurement and finance to capture the accruals.
  • Ensure progress of different scopes of work is captured and reported to enable monitoring of the project performance via the Earned Value System.
  • Maintain budgets to reflect scope changes and also changes to execution strategy; support the change management process.
  • Contribute to Major Reforecasting exercise on a periodic basis.
  • Develop performance KPI’s in collaboration with delivery managers and report on a regular basis.
  • Establish and produce weekly and monthly progress and performance reports, recording variances to planned values and recommending corrective actions.
  • Identify and report value engineering and cost reduction opportunities.

What will you contribute?

  • Engineering degree in a related field, preferably civil engineering.
  • Strong overall knowledge of project controls and Earned Value Management principles.
  • 5 years of experience with top-tier construction / engineering companies in rail and transit sector in field engineering and / or project controls.
  • Experience with one or more top-tier ERP systems (JD Edwards, Oracle, SAP, Prism, etc.,).
  • Large project experience (> $500M), preferably EPC or Design & Build type projects.
  • Exceptional planning and organizational skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Fluent in English, second language (French or Spanish) an asset.
  • Certified CCP, EVM, PSP from AACEI as asset.
