How will you contribute to the team?

Reporting to the production control manager and primary working within the production control team, this role will be a crucial link between manufacturing shop floor and our internal customers.  The role will involve working closely with technical leads, Engineers, planners, and shop floor staff.

Responsibilities

  • Working with the task leads on awarded projects for following up and documenting the progress of individual tasks.
  • Working with the purchase requisitionor on maintaining updates on all procurement activities on awarded projects.
  • Working with the planner in executing the planned schedule and notify potential conflicts or delays in priorities.
  • Working with manufacturing engineers in ensuring required documentation is accounted for in all active projects.
  • Maintaining the master database for project progress both in spreadsheet version and on ERP.
  • Gathering and updating status of purchase requisitions for materials and services from procurement department.
  • Develop and apply work breakdown structures (WBS) with task leads for easier tracking.
  • Identify critical paths using critical float path analysis.
  • Create graphics including Gantt charts and activity network diagrams.
  • Participate in material requirement planning improvements/implementation team meetings for individual projects.
  • Establish and manage a project performance management system using baseline information from the estimate and using ERP.
  • Work with department supervisors or other personnel to assess progress and discuss needed changes with scheduling.
  • Assess progress measurement and develop/update progress curves for project reporting.

Requirements

  • Post-Secondary Certification in Production & Inventory Management (CPIM – APICS) is an asset.
  • Formal training or experience with project management or project coordination is preferred.
  • 3 to 5 years of related project/ production scheduling and cost control experience in a manufacturing environment is required.
  • Knowledge of Production planning and control methods and familiarity of nuclear industry is ideal : Estimation <-> execution life cycle.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office productivity suite, strong user of Microsoft excel is preferred.
  • Proficiency with Primavera (P6) or MS Project is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency with Jobboss ERP is highly desirable.
  • Well-developed problem-solving skills.
  • Able to find new methods and principles and ability to incorporate them into existing practices as needed.
  • High degree of resourcefulness, flexibility, and adaptability.
  • Ability to respond appropriately in pressure situations with a calm and steady demeanor.
  • A well-defined sense of diplomacy and people management skills.
  • Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing, lead business discussions and train others.
  • Excellent team working skills.
  • expediting emergency work will be required from time to time and work may be outside regular hours
