In this role the Quantity Surveyor will lead the interface between Project Controls, Contract Administration and the finance teams, ensuring contractual obligations are reflected in project reports and assisting in the measurement and valuation of works to delivery contractual entitlement.

Further, the Quantity Surveyor will support the necessary activities to provide accurate cost capture and assist the Commercial team in carrying out normal commercial and contractual duties, contribute to the capture of costs accurately and efficiently, ensure data is captured accurately as agreed with the Commercial team and demonstrate an appreciation of the commercial processes involved with effectively managing a contract.

How will you contribute to the team?

To perform this role successfully, the candidate will be responsible for but not limited to the following:

  • Contribute to the successful interface between various projects teams and supporting functions including projects controls, contract administration and financial management.
  • Establish and maintain compliance with the Company systems, processes and procedures.
  • Collate, and help the project team to, file and maintain all contemporary records for use in supporting claims, extensions of time, and the evaluation of variations.
  • Assist in the verification of the progress of works, and report the valuation of the works as necessary.
  • Assist in the bid and tender process and feed in as required.
  • Assist in providing commercial and financial feed-back to the Estimators.
  • Support the commercial team in ensuring cost capture processes are complied with.
  • Assist in providing all cost/commercial information required under the Contract(s) (Reporting, Cashflows and Forecasts, etc.) as directed.
  • Collate all information required to generate applications for payment, and assist in submitting with each application for payment final anticipated Client outturn costs as directed.
  • Assist in submitting in a timely manner Change Requests, with price and programme effects, for subsequent agreement as directed.
  • Assist in the commercial management of the Subcontract Accounts.
  • Maintain professional working relationships at all times.
  • Appreciation of the Company Bid Governance process.
  • Promote a team-working environment.
  • Promote the Company safety culture.
  • Participate in regular monthly safety meetings.

What will you contribute?

  • A Bachelor’s degree or diploma from a recognized university, college or technical institute in engineering, construction management, or comparable specialty.
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in a related commercial and project management field with five years of experience in a quantity surveyor or comparable role.
  • Minimum five years of experience on a target price contract of >$1B value.
  • Strong understanding of different types of contracts, particularly target price contract.
