How will you contribute to the team?
To perform this role successfully, the candidate will be responsible for but not limited to the following:
- Reporting to the Construction Director, the Construction Manager – Heavy Civils will manage and supervise the Heavy/Civils construction management team assigned to the Project.
- Lead a team of construction professionals in a senior management role.
- Lead a constructability analyses.
- Provide field execution leadership during various phases of the Project.
- Oversee for heavy/civils construction activities and monitor the execution of the works in respect of cost, schedule, quality and HSSE objectives.
- Confirming that provisions have been made for resources and training necessary to carry out the project HSSE program and ensure that the policies and procedures are communicated and applied throughout the project site organization.
- Confirm the pre-operational verification activities to ensure that the facilities can be commissioned on time and within budget.
What will you contribute?
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma from a recognized university, college or technical institute in engineering, construction management or comparable speciality.
- Minimum of 15 years of experience in Construction Management roles with five years experience in a senior role for the main contractor on projects >$1B and a minimum of three years of light rail transit experience (strongly preferred).
- Prior experience working as superintendent earlier in career required.
- A minimum of three years of infrastructure/heavy civil experience on projects >$1B required.
- Combination of contractor side and owner side experience an asset.
- Expert knowledge of materials means and methods, and equipment involved in the construction of heavy works.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting contract requirements, including contractor/client negotiations.
- Advanced communication skills (written and verbal) and ability to maintain professional and effective working relationships with Project Owner and related team.
- Advanced ability to engage team and drive performance.
- Expert knowledge in construction safety standards with ability to drive safety culture.
- Strong understanding of risk management.
- Results oriented with extremely high work ethic, stringent quality standards and can-do attitude.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
