Engineering Specialist, Roads

As a member of our Roads & Utilities Group in the Engineering, Design and Project Management Division for Central Canada, you will be working in a fast-paced team-oriented environment. In addition to road and utility design, you will have exposure to structural, traffic, environmental, geotechnical, foundations, geomatics, rail and electrical design during the course of our design assignments.

How will you contribute to the team?
Our Road & Utilities engineering team is looking for a Civil Engineering graduate to join our growing team. To perform this role successfully, the individual will be responsible for but not limited to the following:
- Assist in the preparation of preliminary and detailed municipal roadway design as directed by the Project Manager or Design Lead.
- Prepare and update design drawings using AutoCAD and MicroStation.
- Assist in preparation of contract packages including design drawings, specifications, and cost estimates.
- Prepare quantity calculations, design reports, meeting minutes.
- Conduct site inspection reviews and site visit.
- Coordinate with external agencies, other disciplines, design leads and construction personnel.
- Support with proposal preparation, business development, and client-based support.

The ideal candidate:
- Civil Engineering graduate who has completed roadway geometric design, transportation, municipal engineering, hydrology and storm water management courses.
- 1 – 2 years of Civil Engineering experience is preferred with an emphasis on municipal roadway design.
- Experience with Ontario and/or TAC geometric design standards for roads and underground utility design (sewers and watermains).
- Experience with preparing detailed design drawings and contract packages, and conducting road construction site inspections would be an asset.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, InRoads/OpenRoads, MS Project.
- Excellent time management and organization skills, work on multiple projects to meet established deadlines, and ability to work under pressure, and demonstrated problem solving ability.
- Valid Class G Driver’s License is required.
