The Shoreline Power Group is a Joint Venture of Aecon, AECOM and Atkins Realis. Shoreline Power Group will be completing the Fuel Channel and Feeder Replacement (FCFR) project. The joint venture has been awarded a contract by Bruce Power to execute the Unit 6 FCFR at the Bruce Nuclear Generating Station in Kincardine, ON.
This project is part of Bruce Power’s Life Extension Program, which will allow Bruce Power’s CANDU units to continue to operate safely through to 2064, the project is the centrepiece of the Major Component Replacement (MCR) program to replace the main components of the reactor. Unit 6 is the first of six reactors being replaced by Bruce Power through the MCR program.
The scope of work includes the removal and replacement of calandria tubes, pressure tubes, and feeders for Unit 3, as well as construction management and trade labour. Work is scheduled to commence in April 2024, with expected completion in the third quarter of 2025.
Reporting to the Retube Technical Specialists Manager within a matrix organization, the Metrology Technician is responsible for operation of the FARO laser tracker, SpatialAnalyzer® software to support the project needs. He/she will also be required to coordinate the calibration of measurement and test equipment, CWP's, work plans, CADD interfaces, communicating with outside parties.
Your role within the team:
- Proficient in the operation of metrology, surveying, alignment, layout using measurement instruments.
- CAD modeling in various software Spatial Analyzer, PolyWorks, Smart Plant, SolidWorks, AutoCAD
- Complete all associated documentation and forms within a CWP.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment requiring multitasking, problem solving, analytical skills. Able to work prioritize and work tight deadlines.
- General Knowledge of QA Standards ISO 9001:2008, CSA N258.0-08, Z299.3, Z299.4.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate with team members, internal customers, and suppliers.
- Entry Level Inspection background as a Metrologist.

The ideal candidate:
- Undergraduate Degree in related suitable discipline of either Civil or Mechanical from a University of recognized standing
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant technical experience and expertise in the field
- Basic Surveying knowledge
- CAD software operation in various software (3D modelling)
- Read and interpret Engineering drawings.
- Good communication and organizational skills
- Computer literate in MS Office/Excel
- Previous experience in point cloud and laser tracker/scanner use would be an asset.
- Fiscal responsibility as required by the Joint Venture agreement.
- Interface with customers, suppliers, JV Partners, Project Managers, project personnel, Trades personnel
- Various work locations in both field and office
- Travel as necessary
