AtkinsRéalis is seeking a Senior Environmental Planner to support a wide variety of infrastructure (e.g., transit, road/highway, power, etc.) and other environmental assessment and planning projects. The ideal candidate will be a motivated and detail-oriented with a minimum of 10 years of demonstrated experience providing environmental assessment and consulting services in Canada.
This position can be based anywhere in Canada with an option to work remote. However, must have strong work experience with Ontario environmental standards and regulations in relation to environmental assessments and permitting.
Your role within the team:
- Lead, implement and manage all aspects of environmental assessments for municipal, provincial and federal processes.
- Coordinate and guide efforts to obtain and comply with environmental approvals/permits for projects from regulatory agencies (municipal, provincial and federal).
- Act as a project manager responsible for the development and management of scope, budget, schedule, and quality.
- Manage the development and implementation of consultation and engagement programs.
- Independently coordinate and manage external subcontractors.
- Effectively delegate tasks and activities to intermediate and junior staff and providing technical and supervisory guidance on assigned tasks.
- Assist with and, as necessary, taking a lead role in the development of proposals, qualification documents and other business development related activities.
- Help to grow environmental planning / environmental assessment market share in strategic markets with a primary focus on Ontario and the Greater Toronto/ Hamilton Area.
- Leverage existing industry / client relationships and establish and foster new client relationships.

The ideal candidate:
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Planning, Environmental Science, or related degree.
- 10+ years of related experience in managing/coordinating environmental assessments and securing construction permits/approvals, including experience in Ontario.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in the English language.
- Knowledge of and experience with project management fundamentals including cost control, scope management and scheduling.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, including the ability to manage multiple assignments at one time.
- Experience working in a fast-paced consulting environment.
- Full or Provisional membership in a professional body is an asset (e.g. RPP, PMP, EP).
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.
