Location and the team

Our business is split in to 5 key areas, but for this role you’ll be based in our Sheffield office within our Nuclear and Clean Power. business area.

Our Nuclear and Power teams have been engineering, delivering, managing and decommissioning nuclear facilities worldwide for over 20 years, from new builds like Hinkley Point C to on-site engineering for clients such as EDF. We're driving evolution in the areas of offshore generation and transmission, energy from waste, electric vehicle infrastructure and the integration of smart grid technology. And we're also proud to play a part in reaching net-zero by 2050

What you’ll be studying

Level 6, Degree apprenticeship in Mechanical Engineer (Product Design & Development Engineer)

Academic Requirements:  GCSEs at grade 5 (or C) or above, including mathematics, English and a science, technology or engineering related subject. Plus, a minimum of two A-Levels at grade B or above, including a mathematical based subject and a science, technology, engineering or an additional mathematics related subject or equivalent.

Our apprenticeship programme is well established and is designed to give you maximum exposure to different experiences. You'll get to share your thinking, test your ideas, and start focusing on the work you enjoy most whilst supporting the technical aspects of multidisciplinary design projects.


You'll be making a sustainable difference in people's lives, shaping cities, reimagining transport and transforming nuclear energy. And with the choice to work across Cities & Development, Nuclear & Power, Transportation, Water or Environment, you'll decide where you want your career to go.Here’s what your role as an apprentice would involve

  • Developing your skills in a wide range of exciting projects
  • Learning about project lifecycles which in turn will allow you to support your team.
  • Learning and using relevant design software
  • Being involved in client meetings and assisting in building key client relationships
  • You’ll get to understand and learn digital skills to help us harness technology in new ways
