The Senior Train Control Engineer will be based out of our project office in Los Angeles, California and reports to our Senior Rail & Transit Engineer. The Senior Train Control Engineer is responsible for the design, testing, placing in-service and specification writing for signal and train control systems used in rapid transit applications.

How will you contribute to the team?

Performs signaling design review
Oversees and supervise signaling testing
Maintains documentation of all comments regarding of plans, both internal and external
Assists field personnel in handling problems encountered during signal cutovers
Assists field personnel in performing quality control pre-testing on signal systems and ensures that the design complies with company quality standards and block design requirements
Leads projects that have a predominance of signal and electrical content
Provides technical guidance to other signal engineers, electrical engineers and traction power engineers to establish or interpret design criteria, AREMA standards, NEC standards and client’s needs
Interfaces with internal employees, other consultants and client
Coordinates with signal engineers, designers and signal maintainers performing various signaling design projects including:
AC track circuit implementation
Upgrade of Automatic Train Control system with the latest technology
Support electrical and traction power design components of communication, track and signal projects
Assisting in the development of cut-over procedures

What will you contribute?

B.S. or M.S. in Engineering preferred. This level may be achieved with fifteen years experience since Bachelor's or fourteen years since Master's. In lieu of a degree, 20 years of theoretical and applied experience in advanced Rail Signaling Systems required. Typical incumbent has 20+ years of experience.
Registration as a licensed professional engineer is generally required. However, extensive experience may be substituted in lieu of licensing.
Experience using AutoCAD Applications.
Thorough knowledge of AREMA standards.
Thorough knowledge of a major transit signal system. Strong quantitative, analytical, problem solving, decision-making skills, and critical-thinking abilities. Strong persuasive ability, technical writing and communications skills are expected at this level, proven through technical presentations, technical papers and/or participation in technical committees. May be eligible for project management training.
