The Environment practice of AtkinsRéalis is a rapidly growing full-service consulting firm that is committed to technical excellence and exceptional service to our clients. Our growing organization is seeking like-minded individuals to join our team.

We have one of the most experienced environmental consulting teams in Canada and we are seeking a Team Lead to join our growing Geospatial Team.  The successful candidate will bring well developed leadership skills to provide senior level technical direction and mentoring of staff, strong client management skills and have a proven ability to collaborate across groups and disciplines.  From facilitating project teams to setting project objectives and standards, your expertise will be critical in ensuring successful GIS deployment and utilization.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a team of over 12+ staff comprising technical staff at all levels of development supporting the delivery of projects within the Environment practice and beyond, including projects within the Mining, Power, and Transportation Sectors. They will provide operational leadership to the Geospatial Team by allocating technical teams to projects, managing, or acting in a senior technical role on projects and supporting the technical development of staff to support project execution. They will support management in promoting collaboration within the Environment Practice and with other Technical Practices, Business Units, Proposal and Marketing and Project Delivery divisions to support project and proposal delivery as well as and growing our Geospatial capabilities.

Your role within the team:

  • Providing leadership to the Geospatial team by staying updated on Geospatial standards and trends and developing and implementing best practices, governance standards and ways of work.
  • Representing the Geospatial team and championing the team to AtkinsRéalis staff and clients with a goal of growing our Geospatial team and its offerings.
  • Supervising and mentoring a team of geospatial technical staff and ensuring productivity targets are met.
  • Representing the geospatial team in IT based discussions (e.g., licensing, software/network upgrades related to Esri products).

The ideal candidate:

  • Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Geology, Agrology, Biology, Geography, Geomatics or Environmental Sciences..

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience, including 2 years at a management level along with practical, progressive Esri product experience (ArcMap 10x, ArcPro 3.x, Enterprise, AGOL, Portal and its extensions).
  • Experience in managing technical staff, with experience managing across various locations and/or time zones an asset.
  • A strong communicator able to act as a GIS liaison between various project teams, educating non-GIS users on the capabilities of GIS to bring value to projects and clients.
  • Experience of successfully managing GIS inputs into large multi-disciplinary projects and working on environmental projects such as environmental sensitivity, watershed analysis, network analysis etc. across Canada.
  • Proven ability to lead, motivate and mentor technical staff at different levels of career development.
  • Experience in implementing geospatial governance.
  • English proficiency in reading and writing, with bilingualism in French an asset.

Compensation Range:

Expected compensation for this role is between $91,000 - 153,000 annually. Base salaries are determined according to several parameters like skills, experience, location, and potential impact on the role. Internal and external competitiveness are also taken into account in our offers.
