Project Coordinator

This role will be based in Port Elgin, ON.

Your role within the team:

  • Responsible for assigned scope of the project and accountable for performing duties that facilitate work progressing with safety, quality, schedule, cost, and contractual requirements.
  • Liaise with key stakeholders as required generally including engineering, construction, quality client & subcontractors.
  • Maintain a positive relationship with client project counterparts.
  • Responsible for helping implement the project schedule and track budget for assigned engineering, procurement, construction segments of the project.
  • Coordinates the preparation and delivery of project deliverables.
  • Coordinates with Engineering to ensure that the technical documents are prepared in support of the project.
  • May be required to assist with resourcing/staffing, training, onboarding (at a customer site) and daily management of a multidisciplined team of personnel to perform short-term (outage) scopes of work at a customer site.
  • Provides status and progress reports in support of the Project Manager.
  • Ensure work is performed within quality program requirements.
  • Ensure a strong nuclear safety culture is reinforced continuously.

The ideal candidate:

  • Diploma in Engineering Technology or Construction Technology or equivalent is an asset; otherwise experience as a senior tradesman, including roles as foreman, general foreman and/or superintendent may be considered an asset.
  • 15+ years’ experience supporting various type of projects including construction, manufacturing, or engineering services projects.
  • 5-10 years’ experience leading individuals and teams is an asset. Can build a team and can inspire them to perform and work together towards a common goal.
  • Knowledge of Non-Destructive Examination and CGSB standards is an asset.
  • Knowledge of ASME/CSA welding standards and practices is an asset.
  • Must have experience working in a nuclear environment. Candidate will need to demonstrate knowledge of personnel management for multidisciplined work in radiological work environments, including dose management and planning work for ALARA principals.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of CANDU customer’s work management system and schedule reporting protocols Candidates with experience and demonstrating expert knowledge of inspection and/or maintenance of CANDU nuclear reactor systems will be prioritized. (In particular, fuel channel maintenance and inspection or feeder inspection and maintenance).
  • Knowledge and experience with the related tool sets for the work described above will be considered an asset.
  • Fluency in other languages (Korean, Mandarin, Romanian, Spanish, French) will be considered an asset.
  • Understanding of nuclear supply chain and materials management principles.
  • An appreciation of the importance of Quality Assurance Programs and their significance to the nuclear industry.
  • Lead by example and set high standards for Health & Safety and Nuclear Safety Culture.
  • Ability to read and understand construction drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
  • Demonstrate ability to manage nuclear project risk as related to site work activities, both with respect to the planning/proactive requirements and for the active daily management tasks.
  • Working knowledge of industrial safety.
  • Excellent organizational, communication and customer relationship skills.
  • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills.
