Insights Meet Fatimah Albuainain - the first Arab woman to be a certified BICSI Outside Plant Designer!

Fatimah Albuainain, Communication Designer at AtkinsRéalis Fayez Engineering (SLFE), became the 1st ever Arab woman to successfully pass the examination requirements to become a Certified Building Industry Consulting Service International (BICSI) Outside Plant (OSP) Designer.

Fatimah graduated with a Bachelor degree of Science in Interior Design from Jubail University in 2013. In June 2014, she joined SLFE as a Trainee Designer and was immediately enrolled in Bentley MicroStation V8i 2D training. Fatimah passed the three months trainee period and all the required technical examinations to become a full time SLFE employee. In September 2014, she was appointed as Communications Designer. Throughout 2015, Fatimah continued to demonstrate her enthusiasm in developing her career and together with her mentor, they set her career goals and outlined the steps and milestones she needed to accomplish.

Thanks to Fatimah’s determination and hard work, she was nominated into the USUS Program in January 2017, a development and incentive program for high potential Saudi employees. This program provided Fatimah the opportunity to obtain the proper mentoring, training and career path growth she needed.
