Insights Pankaj Garg: Leading the way and unlocking people's potential

Pankaj Garg has recently taken on the lead role for our Gurugram office. His career journey within AtkinsRéalis is inspiring and today we are sharing his story in the form of a simple interview, that allows us to introspect into our journey and pay accolades to Pankaj's incredible ride.

Pankaj, if you were to describe yourself in just one word, what would that be?

"I would call myself, flexibleThis quality allowed me to work in different countries including Ireland, Denmark, Abu Dhabi, Copenhagen, and Mumbai; this allowed me to work, learn and lead world-class projects."

What is the one key factor that drives and motivates you to deliver daily?

"Meeting people, learning from them, and solving their issues drives and motivates me to do more every day. I am glad that with my new role as a leader of the Gurugram office, I will get more opportunities to interact with the best minds across our industries, which will take my motivation to the next level.

I have recently learnt from Bharat Gala, Senior Vice President, India, about the importance of driving the career of my colleagues. I have recently started trying on this front too."

What is the one thing that gives you a sense of fulfilment at work?

"When I solve a global issue with an initiative within my team and when this initiative is then taken to a bigger level in the organization, it gives me a sense of achievement. Some ideas which have been taken beyond my team include – Staff Recognition Scheme, GTC House Concept, Project Clinics, Staff Titles and contributing to Technical Guidance Notes."

What is your approach towards achieving our pivot to a growth strategy in your team?

"Providing trust and confidence to all stakeholders in the project's pipeline, focusing on our people and quality of delivery is my mantra for growth. Further, I am keen to embed our organizational culture in new entrants who will join us in large numbers at a rapid pace in the future." 

How do you intend to inspire individuals through your work?

"Focusing on one task at a time and creating wonders in that task."

One passion area – at work or on a personal level?

"Increasing efficiency in delivery for repeat tasks using standardization, digital tools and providing training to staff."

One leader that motivates you and why?

"Pramukh Swami Maharaj from BAPS. It amazes me how he has created a gem of 1000+ temples across the world and provided counselling to numerous people daily either by meeting them, writing letters or on the telephone with a knowledge of one language only—An amazing personality."

One character that inspires you and why?

"Rajesh Khanna's character from the film Anand as it teaches how you can remain cheerful in the most challenging times of your life."

Do you have any societal passion driving you from within that you would like to share with us?

"I have always thought about people who are visually impaired or have lost their vision. I have never gotten around to doing anything about the issue, but I'm committed to doing something in the near future."
