Assistant Engineer to Lead Design Engineer - Environmental (Ecology)

We are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic self-starter to join our team as a Graduate/Assistant Engineer (Graduate/Assistant Ecologist). This role will be based at our Atkins office in Bangalore, IN.

How will you contribute to the team?

  • Supporting on Precautionary Method of Working documents and other technical reports.
  • Analysing bat sound data.
  • To be a proficient user of GIS, supporting with desk studies, scoping sites, records of protected species and biodiversity net gain assessments.
  • Working to tight timescales and following an approved methodology will be key feature of the role.
  • To be a team player and deliver responsibilities by meeting deadlines.
  • Developing your technical skills through Continuing Professional Development.
  • Managing your own time and workload in collaboration with other team members.
  • Supporting general administration, project management and financial reporting.
  • To liaise with the UK team on a daily basis and build up a good working relationship.
  • To carry out additional ad hoc activities as required by process leads.
  • To support various Network Services business units as and when required.

Requirements

  • A degree in ecology/environmental sciences/environmental engineering.
  • Proficient GIS skills (QGIS/ArcGIS).
  • Working knowledge of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Proficient ability to interpret, review and analyse data to produce reports.
  • Highly motivated and proactive; focused on achieving and delivering technical excellence.
  • Have strong report writing, verbal and presentation skills.
  • Collaborative working skills, with good interpersonal skills and an ability to communicate effectively.
  • Compliance with Health and Safety Policies and Procedures.

Desirable requirements

  • 3-12 years of experience working on forestry/biodiversity/ecology projects, with field experience.
  • Experience in Anabat Insight/ Kaleidoscope.
  • Previous experience of working in international projects.
  • Understanding of UK and EU Wildlife Legislation, planning policies, and licensing requirements.
  • Membership of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM).
