The role we are seeking to fill sits within the Business Transformation team in our Transportation business, which has an excellent record of delivery for a wide range of clients including some of the largest public and private sector organisations in the UK, particularly in rail, highways, and local transport markets. The UK transport sector is delivering the largest and most ambitious changes the sector has seen in a generation.  

Significant growth is being driven by long-term funding commitments from Government in recognition of the critical role that strategic connectivity plays in supporting economic growth. Our clients face key challenges in defining and delivering their long-term programmes, maximising the value of assets, and embracing new technologies so that they can deliver the best outcomes for users and for the economy.

Based in our Transport Consultancy and Advisory practice (TC&A), our Business Transformation team is supporting leaders to think differently by re-aligning their strategic priorities, providing support to re-organise their businesses and develop processes to support new operations. We help uncover and then overcome cultural and organisational challenges which are hindering success.

The individuals: 

 

We are looking to recruit talented individuals who have some experience in the transport sector and are passionate about delivering excellence in transformation and complex business change.  Like our team, these individuals will take pride in delivering an authentic and hands-on-approach to understand our clients’ business challenges and help achieve their ambitions.  

The roles we hope to fill will enhance our existing business consulting expertise: strategy setting; organisational and operational design, implementing and managing a digital transformational change programme, including cultural and behavioural leadership; business performance improvement; benefits realisation and complex stakeholder engagement. 

You will have responsibility for client-facing work from the outset. All our consultants are expected to have regular interactions with clients, to lead work-streams or projects, and to support senior colleagues in delivering specific project outputs.  

You will be expected to support achievement of challenging operational and consultancy revenue targets, supporting bid writing/tendering, and the development and delivery of our wider transportation strategy. 

The roles can be based in any of our London, Epsom, Birmingham, Manchester, Bristol, or Cardiff offices. Travel to attend client sites across the UK and overseas, as required, is key. 

 

What you can bring: 

 

We are looking for people that bring a blend of consulting capabilities and techniques to suit different situations. These might include: 

Strategy development,  

Operational Improvement and organisational development,  

Benefit analysis,  

Change impact and management techniques,  

Cultural and behavioural development,  

Research and analysis, 

Communications or marketing experience. 

 

In particular we are seeking individuals with an excellent track record of client-facing project experience in delivering:  

Operational Effectiveness (e.g, Lean, Continuous Improvement)  

New and improved Operating Models,  

Business process analysis, design and improvement.  

 

 

You will need to: 

hold at least a degree or equivalent qualification and may hold, or be working towards, a professional qualification, 

be able to deal with competing tasks and operate successfully even when under pressure, 

be a highly collaborative individual, capable of maximising the value of networks within and outside AtkinsRéalis, including with our market facing teams; and, 

have well-developed emotional intelligence with the ability to flex your style to suit different stakeholders, building trusted relationships with clients at all levels. 

 

It is also essential that you have excellent written communication skills and can present and deliver outcomes which are compelling, accurate, and engaging both to clients and in support of our business development and work winning activities. 

 

A background in the Transportation sector is of interest but is not essential.
