“We are Hiring!” Atkins seeks an energetic and highly motivated self-starter to join our Austin, Site Development Civil Engineering Group as a Civil Engineering Senior Engineer I – Site Development. 
Under direction, applies full competency in conventional engineering work and broad knowledge of precedents in specialty area. On design assignments, understands how to clearly convey the design intent to engineering drawings and specifications. On assignments involving engineering investigations and planning work, has a firm grasp of the fundamentals of engineering processes and their application to operating systems. On projects involving engineering services related to construction activities, has developed a thorough understanding of construction methods and the manner in which engineering drawings and specifications are translated into the constructed product. Upholds engineering ethics and standards of conduct.  Must have familiarity with all aspects of civil engineering design and criteria related to Site Development projects including subdivision platting and surveying, site grading and drainage, sanitary sewers, water distribution systems, storm sewers, roadway/parking lot design, earthwork, erosion and sediment-control, ADA/TAS compliance, stormwater management, stormwater filtration, pavement markings and signage. This position will report to the Technical Manager.

How will you contribute to the team?
•    Plans, schedules, conducts or coordinates detailed phases of the engineering work in a part of a major project or in a total project of moderate scope.
•    Performs preliminary engineering design and/or reviews the design and drafting work of junior engineers, designers or drafters.
•    Prepares cost and man-hour estimates, job budgets and schedules.
•    Prepares or oversees the preparation of final plans and reports and submits them for approval.
•    Conducts or oversees personnel involved in engineering investigations and planning work.
•    Coordinates work with other engineers and professionals within and outside own discipline, and with support services staff.
•    Plans, schedules and conducts or coordinates construction services on projects of moderate scope.
•    May occasionally assist in management of Site Development projects.
•    Perform such other duties as supervisor may from time-to-time deem necessary.

What will you contribute?
•    B.S. or M.S. in Engineering.
•    This level may be achieved by Engineers with four years' experience since B.S.; three years’ experience since M.S. Incumbents typically have six to ten years' experience since bachelor’s degree.
•    Good technical writing, computer and communications skills. May be eligible to receive project management training.
•    Experience with local municipalities and agencies in the Austin metropolitan area.
•    Site development design experience.
•    AutoCAD and Civil 3D proficiency.
•    Experience with MS Word and Excel.
•    Proficiency with Bentley PondPack software is desired.
•    ProjectWise, Bluebeam and MS Project knowledge and understanding are a plus.
•    Must be able to coordinate well with others, including other in-house structural, highway, and drainage design teams, water resources staff, landscape architects, surveyors, subconsultants, etc.
•    Must have the ability to communicate clearly and accurately, both orally and in writing.
•    Must have the ability to visit project sites when necessary.
•    Must have the ability to process paper/electronic documents and utilize computer equipment.
•    Must have the ability to assemble, organize, and analyze data.
•    Must have the ability to plan projects, prioritize tasks, review construction plans and related documents, evaluate alternatives, and select appropriate solutions.
•    General Competencies expected of all Professionals and Managers include: Client Service, Commitment, Communication, Innovation & Continuous Improvement, Professionalism, Quality, and Teamwork.
•    Texas P.E. License required or the ability to obtain a Texas Civil P.E. License within 6 months of employment.
