ADS&T is growing rapidly. We’ve doubled in size over the last four years and expect to do so again in the coming years. As we grow, we need to continue to evolve and transform our division to be ready for what’s to come.

To continue our drive to be the partner of choice for our clients, we are seeking a Commercial Director to inspire and evolve our commercial function. This role will form part of the ADS&T Operational Leadership Team and will report to the Managing Director of ADS&T.

The primary focus of this role will be to deliver commercial oversight and control across our client portfolio. You’ll oversee our commercial lifecycle from early engagement with our client facing teams, shaping the future of commercial offers to clients, through winning work with innovative commercial approaches to ultimately delivering value to our clients and sustainable revenue for our business.

Your purpose

You’ll be an accomplished functional leader and experienced commercial professional, able to balance a busy business as usual function, while transforming ready for the future. You will be an integral part of our divisional leadership team, guiding the way to achieving our long-term strategic goals.

  • Work closely with our client facing teams to develop new business development opportunities through innovative commercial structures - actively shaping the future commercial offerings of our business, within the bounds of our corporate risk appetite.
  • Be a driving motivator in creating profitable growth through the operationalisation of commercial strategies - keeping us ahead of industry trends and regulatory changes, by driving innovative commercial solutions.
  • Actively deliver guidance and support to secure new contracts with our client facing teams through a motivated team of commercial professionals.
  • Develop and embed risk management frameworks that safeguard our financial interests whilst ensuring client satisfaction.
  • Stay ahead of industry trends and regulatory changes to drive innovative commercial solutions. Influence regional and global commercial policies and processes to maximise their value to ADS&T and create space for us to meet our evolving client needs.
  • Take ownership of our divisional commercial risk profile and mitigation, including ownership of supporting processes.
  • Be our point of co-ordination Legal – with a particular focus on contract approvals and potential claims.
  • Support our other regional divisions as an objective reviewer large and complex opportunities (Red Reviewer)
  • Champion key corporate systems that support our commercial processes - such as iGATE, and PAS
  • Actively support our Supply Chain team in the execution of contracts and commercial engagements with partners and suppliers.
  • Lead, and grow, a team of innovative commercial professionals (currently 4 FTE) nurturing future commercial talent across the division.
  • Promote commercial skills and knowledge across the division through the provision of training and knowledge sharing.
  • Build relationships with key leaders across our division to understand and develop the future demand and requirement for our commercial function.
  • Maintain an alignment to our purpose, values and aspirations in everything we do commercially.

What you can bring

  • Proven experience in a senior leadership role, preferably in a growing business within consultancy or professional services.
  • Ability to operate as a divisional senior leader, as well as a commercial expert.
  • A passion for people, being an ally for our People and Culture aspirations.
  • Track record of working successfully with large public sector bodies such as the Ministry of Defence.
  • Demonstrable experience in finding solutions that balance internal company risk appetite with meeting evolving client commercial needs.
  • Strong collaborative behaviours to drive positive interfaces with other senior leaders, clients and wider stakeholders.
  • A clear view and vision, based on industry best practice and regulatory changes, that you can apply to our growing business.
  • Experience working across company boundaries and executing on complex Joint Ventures.
  • An openness to innovation, being an advocate for pragmatic solutions, rather than blockers.
  • A passion for growing a sustainable business, putting the client first.
