Who are we looking for?

People who are passionate about analyzing data to better understand the relationship between building design and construction costs, schedule, and risks. People studying a broad range of topics including construction management, architecture, engineering, data analysis, and related subjects likely have many of the skills needed to succeed in this position, though the key would be to find someone who will be highly motivated to help us further our clients’ knowledge about how their construction costs evolve as they change the design of their buildings.

We are hiring! AtkinsRéalis is seeking a Construction Cost Analyst Intern to join our offices in Minneapolis, MN. The Construction Cost Analyst Intern assists in the research and development work of the Construction Data Intelligence team. This includes the capture of benchmark cost and schedule data, statistical analysis of industry and market data, and development of conceptual cost models for construction projects.

Our Internship Program is designed for college students pursuing a degree in a STEM field. This position provides opportunities to experience work in a professional environment and apply what is learned in class to the real-world challenges we face every day.

How will you contribute to the team?

  • Gather and analyze cost information and input new projects into the team’s project database.
  • Prepare benchmarking analyses and early-stage estimates to clients.
  • Update and maintain a historic cost database for the various sectors supported by the CDI team.
  • Establish a network of office contacts that can provide details of bid projects periodically.
  • Design cost models to display well-presented breakdowns of cost information and data.
  • Develop parametric cost models to investigate different cost scenarios such as size, shape, scope and function of building.
  • Support the update of cost and location indices which are used to adjust for time and location.
  • Prepare occasional bespoke client reports upon request – varying topics.
  • May prepare regular articles of interest in connection with costs within the construction industry e.g., cost of LEED certification, including articles for publications.
  • Develop Power BI reports containing crucial metrics regarding construction management schedules and cost analytics.
  • Perform other occasional duties as the Supervisor deems necessary.

What will you contribute?

  • EXPERIENCE: No experience required. Prior internships are a plus.
  • EDUCATION: At least completion of the first two years in a four-year college or university technical program. Advanced education considered as a plus.
  • SPECIAL SKILLS: Math skills are generally required. Computer skills required to enter data in spreadsheets or databases. Power BI or other data analysis software skills preferred, but not essential.
  • PROFESSIONAL REGISTRATIONS: None required. Any existing certifications are a plus.

  • Performs routine technical support assignments.

Expected compensation range is between $25-$31 depending on skills, experience, and geographical location.
