Atkins are looking to recruit a Document Controller / Project Administrator to join our Major Project Delivery teams based in Glasgow. The role would suit someone who enjoys working within a major project environment, has prior experience within a document control and/or project administration role, and who is looking to develop their career within project delivery or project management.

In this role you will administer the document control and administration systems of some of the major engineering projects being delivered by our teams. There will be a variety of project administration tasks to be delivered which will mean no two days being the same and will give you the chance to work with lots of team members across evert stage of the project lifecycle.

The role is based in Glasgow but the projects themselves could be based throughout Scotland or across the UK.

About the Project Delivery Practice:

The Atkins UK Infrastructure Project Delivery Practice (PDP) is the centre of excellence for the delivery of infrastructure projects and the home unit for our project management staff. The team is responsible for delivery of design services across sectors including: Water Infrastructure, Defence Infrastructure, Aviation, Energy, Stations and Urban Developments. These may be delivered as single major projects or a programme of smaller projects. Our Clients include, AWE, Berkeley Homes, BAE Systems, DIO, EDF, Environment Agency, Gatwick Airport, Heathrow Airport, High Speed 2, Horizon, London City Airport Metropolitan Police, United Utilities, Scottish Water, Sellafield, Seven Trent Water, St Modwen, Thames Water, Transport for London. 

Responsibilities:

  • To support the project delivery team in day to day duties throughout the project lifecycle from inception to completion.
  • Manage and control the quality and timeliness of distribution of documents into and out of the project team.
  • Attend meetings with the project team to understand and communicate requirements.
  • Liaise with internal team members to ensure document control requirements are being met and additional needs are mutually understood.
  • Maintenance of computerised databases.
  • Recording of incoming / outgoing correspondence and design documentation.
  • Use of databases to find design drawings.
  • Ad hoc project administration tasks as required by our major project teams.

Requirements:

  • Prior experience in a Document Control or Project Administration role.
  • Able to create documents/reports/processes appropriate to the needs of project delivery team.
  • Good written and communication skills.
  • Flexible attitude and ‘can do’ approach.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Good level of computer literacy in Windows – Word, Outlook, Excel.
  • Ability to manage time efficiently and prioritise duties.
