To support the Central Rail Systems Alliance team based in York, working on track replacement in the UK, we require experienced ecologists to join our Environmental team. You would join our project based York office but be an integral part of our National team of over 90 ecologists.

What you will be doing

  • Attend multi-disciplinary walkover surveys, identifying ecological constraints and additional survey and or licensing requirements;
  • Undertaking Phase 1 habitat surveys and protected species surveys;
  • Preparing licence applications;
  • Planning and co-ordinating field surveys, analysing and interpreting survey results;
  • Working with design and construction teams planning and co-ordinating ecological mitigation works;
  • Input to project risk and opportunity registers and hazard logs;
  • Input to multi-disciplinary project meetings;
  • Produce and deliver tool-box-talks where required; and
  • Undertaking reporting including Preliminary Ecological Assessments and Ecological Impact Assessments, work package plans, and method statements and Precautionary Methods of Working.

About you

Ideally, you would have the following qualifications and/or attributes:

  • A degree in ecology or closely related field;
  • Membership of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM);
  • Good working knowledge of UK and EU Wildlife Legislation, planning policies, licensing requirements and best practice survey techniques;
  • Be capable at undertaking a range of surveys and reporting;
  • Great crested newt and or bat survey licence would be beneficial;
  • Excellent communication skills; and
  • A full valid UK/EEC driving licence.

Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
