The Engineering services group in Toronto provide mechanical and electrical design for all types of buildings in the educational, institutional, commercial, recreational, and multi-residential market. Our clients and projects and varied and diverse. The office is a high energy workspace where we work closely as a team to meet the requirements and deadlines of our clients.
We currently have many educational, health care, institutional, retail, and multi-unit residential sectors projects. We are looking for an electrical engineer with minimum 5 years’ experience in Electrical design for buildings, including Building Power, Lighting, Fire Alarm System, Network Cabling, Security, and Communications systems, to join our growing team.
How will you contribute to the team?
To perform this role successfully, the candidate will be responsible for but not limited to the following:
- Independent design of small and medium projects and portions of larger complex projects.
- Preparation of electrical specifications, if required.
- Attendance to client, consultant, and contractor meetings.
- Obtaining information from equipment suppliers and incorporate in designs and specifications.
- Co-ordinating with Utilities and Municipalities regarding incoming services.
- Preparation of schematics, project documents.
- Preparation of engineering calculations.
- Independent review of shop drawings.
- Providing technical directions to junior designers and CAD operators.
What will you contribute?
Qualifications -
- University degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Minimum 5 years’ design experience.
- Professional Engineering designation is an asset. Ability to obtain professional designation in near future is required.
- Demonstrated track record of electrical design of complex building systems.
Skills required -
- Familiarity with design requirements for Building Power, Lighting, fire protection, and Communications systems.
- Familiarity with relevant building codes including, OBC, OECS, ASHRAE, CSA.
- Effective communication and inter-personal skills.
- Commitment to working in a team environment.
- Ability to work on several projects at one time.
- Working knowledge of all applicable building codes and industry standards.
- Extensive skills with AUTOCAD, REVIT, Word, Acrobat & Excel (Micro Station, Power simulation software and other design tools an asset).
