About the role:

• The GIS Content Senior Specialist supports the strategic and focused application of Geographic Information Systems (GIS). This includes elements of database, spreadsheet software for GIS design, GIS mapping and analysis, database design and system development, and compilation and analysis of geographic data. As specialist, they can work to manage critical workloads in capital project delivery and be familiar with working with BIM and CAD data. They are experts in GIS and must be proficient in one or more GIS automation / programming languages such as Python, JavaScript, and C#.    

Core Responsibilities:

• Work definition and support for GIS workflows and team development
• Act as key interface with project leadership for all GIS related activities
• Discipline lead for all GIS Data Modelling, GIS Database Schema design and development.
• Experience with GIS Data Quality Control procedures and workflows.
• Data Translation between CAD/GIS, Export, Translate, Load (ETL) Operations using FME and custom geoprocessing scripts.
• Publishing feature services and maps in ArcGIS Enterprise
• Creation of web-maps, web-GIS Apps, and dashboards. 

Qualification:

• 4-year degree in Geography, Planning, Engineering, Computer Science, or related curriculum (or equivalent)
• 10+ years of related experience with evidence of leadership capability
• Proficiency in GIS software applications and programming is required. Also requires a demonstrated proficiency in both written and oral communication skills and a working knowledge of industry practices.
• Esri ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Enterprise (Portal, AGOL, Server)
• Experience managing and editing large GIS datasets, creating standardized GIS data layers, knowledge and use of GIS automation tools, Python scripts, geoprocessing models for data transfer and quality control. 
• Desired experience with Esri GeoBIM, Esri Indoors, Safe Software FME, AutoDesk Products, Digital Twin software.
• Well-developed skills with one or more GIS packages including scripting, programming, modelling, and designing.
• Ability to design and maintain GIS databases and other database formats such as Microsoft Access, SQL, dBase, etc.
• Proficiency in cartography and map design, including coordinating systems, projections, and map scales.
• Ability to utilize, convert and incorporate various types of data into GIS. Examples of this data include Computer Aided Design and Drafting (CADD), Global Positioning Systems (GPS) and database files.
• Systems and peripheral troubleshooting skills
• Ability to independently assess data anomalies, software problems, and program design flaws, and take appropriate steps to make the project work.
• Ability to ascertain hardware/software limitations, how to work within them, and what can be done when limits are reached.
• Ability to communicate results of assigned tasks in writing.
• Ability to document work performed on a project in project logs.
• Ability to document specific information about project data in the metadata file.
• Proficiency in basic office automation software including MS-Word or MS-Excel.

Desirable Experience:

• Geospatial data development and standardization (geometry editing, attribution, metadata).
• Knowledge of programming and scripting languages such Python Notebooks (e.g. Jupyter, Anaconda), Python libraries (e.g. ArcPy, Numpy, Pandas, Scikit) and JavaScript.
