How will you contribute to the team?

To perform this role successfully, the individual will be responsible for but not limited to the following:

  • Authors competent technical reports.
  • Able to present/represent their work and that of their colleagues on the project (presentations/meetings). Offer new ideas to improve solutions and processes and see through ideas to implementation and completion.
  • Applied broad technical competence and experienced knowledge but should know when to refer to more senior staff.
  • Capable of responsible and varied assignments. Able to check work of all those in the project team. Receive on the job technical training through performing tasks with no supervision.
  • Should be able to independently deliver work and integrate with larger project team.
  • Technical Team Leader/Specialist with an increasing reputation internally and externally within their field.
  •  Demonstrates design ability and/or technical detail capability

Project Management:

  • Good knowledge of work procedures and ensure work adheres to procedures.
  • Clear knowledge of work procedures, and ability to brief project team on them. Responsible for completion of projects to time and cost.
  • Fully conversant Financial systems and conversant with the commercial aspects of project management.
  • Able to work as effective and pro-active member of the team, able to apply knowledge gained across a broad range of disciplines.
  • Able to reliably manage a team/group - manage staff development, personnel management, staff appraisals etc.
  • Team leader supervising other professionals.
  • Good knowledge of, and use of, Atkins capabilities outside of business units. Maintaining relationships with Atkins colleagues outside of the business area.
  • Report on own performance on a regular basis including (this includes eg timesheets)

 

Commercial:

  • Regular client contact.
  • Building relationships with a growing set of clients. Very good understanding of Operating Unit technologies and markets.
  • Clear understanding of local business (Divisional) technologies and markets. Able to discuss in detail with clients the local business (Divisional) technologies and markets.
  • Successful in identifying and following through on leads/suggestions associated with
    new and existing clients.
  • Able to respond professionally to enquiries. To manage the drafting of responses to bids within their area of expertise.
  • Able to realistically estimate pricing associated with projects within their area of expertise.

What will you contribute?

  • Degree in Civil / Structural Engineering (M Eng. preferred) plus typically up to 8 years of relevant design experience
  • Should demonstrate evidence in continuous professional development.
  • H&S and Environmental Demonstrates the necessary level of competence and responsibility according to grade.
  • Key Internal Relationships: At all levels within other divisions and companies of the Group.
  • External: Contact with clients, representatives, contractors and suppliers on matters concerning the project and is able to represent the technology/department on multi-discipline projects.
