We are looking for a Head of Project Controls to support project teams and post Covid 19 restrictions, based in our client’s support offices across Birmingham/London.

As a Head of Project Controls at the Client’s office you will lead on the evaluation of project time, cost and quality targets for the Phase area of the Client Programme. You will also lead on the communication and monitoring of project governance controls in order to enable the successful delivery of the Client Programme.

About the role (accountabilities include but are not limited to):

  • Lead the establishment of contractor requirements through early supply chain engagement to support the time, cost and quality targets for the programme of works and monthly business reporting;
  • Take leadership for the improvement of operating policies to mitigate risk throughout the Client
  • Programme, and take a lead in the monitoring of risk policy adherence;
  • Lead on the provision of specialist advice and technical knowledge to respond to delays, issues and other challenges throughout the Client Programme;
  • Oversee periodic correlation of schedule, cost, quality and risk to drive expedient project delivery;
  • Oversee of the coordination and communication of Client’s period reporting cycle ensuring correlation to the Phase’s executive reporting lifecycle;
  • Lead business reporting activity, taking ownership for its quality and robustness and take overall responsibility for periodic project progress updates;
  • Sustain governance processes and review policies in order to ensure they are in line with strategic business objectives, engaging with Project Delivery teams to drive governance to the lowest levels within the Client;
  • Lead a team and set individuals’ objectives, reviewing performance, undertaking appraisals and providing on-going feedback on a formal and informal basis, to ensure all staff are aware of what they are required to achieve and how they are performing against their objectives;
  • Undertake self-assessment of procedural compliance to share lessons learned and best practice within the Project Controls community; and
  • Support the Programme Controls Director in delivering market and strategy insights to Client’s Senior Commercial teams.

About You:

  • Qualified Project Manager, or similar Chartered/professional qualification, with an extensive track record of achievement in planning and Project Management within large scale infrastructure or construction projects under NEC Form of Contract;
  • Experience of advising Senior Management teams and Directors in the commercial and public sectors;
  • Experience of assimilating and delivering all commercial elements within large, complex projects;
  • Strategic communicator, with the ability to successfully engage, promote and influence across a large range of stakeholders (including the Executive), both internal and external;
  • Knowledge of public sector policies, processes and procedures and associated political impacts.
