HR Business Partner

This position is based out of our office in Houston, TX. and reports to the Kent Director, Human Resources. It is responsible for providing day-to-day human resources support and counsel in the areas of compensation, training, employee relations, employment documentation, policies, procedures, laws, standards, and government regulations.

How will you contribute to the team?

  • Apply in-depth understanding and guidance on the application of various employment laws as they relate to HR including ADA, FMLA, FLSA, and other Federal, State, and Local legislation/regulations to support the client base of management and employees.
  • Research, evaluate, and maintain company policies and practices recommending changes as necessary.
  • Responsible for delivering a first-class HR service to the business.   This includes:
    • An agile and highly responsive service including effective onboarding and offboarding.
    • Support Performance Management across the business in line with policy and appropriate to the business model.
    • Delivery of effective Employee Relations.
    • Delivery of HR data / metrics and reporting.
    • Drive Company Culture, Values and Behaviors in the Business.
    • Work closely and collaboratively within the wider company HR community to leverage knowledge and resources that meets the company’s HR goals and Kent goals overall.
    • Coach, develop and challenge the client groups and line managers on all HR related activities ensuring legal and corporate compliance.
    • Maintain effective communication channels with HR support teams and project teams across the business.
  • Prepare for, conduct, and resolve employee relations claims, grievances, and Disciplinary Action investigations.
  • Participate as a key contributor in company employee and labor relations items and training as well as prepare and maintain employee relations claim reports.
  • Support key HR initiatives, including performance management, succession planning, training and development, annual surveys, and key employee communications.
  • Support current and future business needs through the development, engagement, motivation of employees.
  • Support Compensation with the salary review and merit process in accordance with corporate policies and structures.
  • Utilizing HR best practice and policies to ensure compliance with local legislation and corporate policies, directives, and guidelines.
  • Using the company HRIS, be accountable for delivering regular reporting and updates as well as reports for effective review planning - probation, salary, appraisal, expiry dates etc.

What will you contribute?

  • BA or BS degree in the appropriate discipline from an accredited college or university, plus six (6) years of progressive and relevant experience.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both written and oral).
  • Strong presentation skills.
  • Must be detailed-oriented with a high degree of accuracy while multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment.
  • The ideal candidate should have experience in the Engineering and/or Construction industry.
