Infrastructure Operations Engineer

Purpose of the Role:

The Infrastructure Operations Engineer is a hands-on technology role in the team responsible for the management of our infrastructure technology estate.  Supporting the server infrastructure (physical & virtual, backup solutions, some networking and other essential services. Working within a dedicated function you will provide monitoring, resolving incidents, implementing customer requests, delivering on projects, and providing operational support & services.

This role would be suited to an individual who has experience with supporting & monitoring a large server environment, someone who has proven experience troubleshooting issues within an enterprise.

We are looking for someone who can be dynamic and a real problem solver.

Key Deliverables/Responsibilities:

• Supporting and monitoring the infrastructure server and network environments.
• Capacity management for infrastructure server resources.
• Responding to incidents from either users or system alerts.
• Monitoring storage infrastructure, backups, assisting with file restores.
• Managing, supporting, monitoring of DHCP server/services.
• Building, configuring, and troubleshooting Windows Server.
• Writing knowledgebase documentation, processes and assisting team members.
• Developing internal IT Service Management Service Desk inline with Operation requirements.

Experience Required:

Candidate must have experience in Infrastructure environments in a corporate enterprise.

Essential Technical Requirements:

We would expect you to have hands-on experience with:

• Managing, building, supporting, and monitoring a Windows server platform (all versions, including current).
• Managing, supporting, and monitoring a VMWare and Microsoft Hyper-V platforms.
• Experience of managing Linux platforms would be an advantage.
• Experience of configuration of Ivanti ITSM Service Desk or similar would be an advantage.
• Managing and monitoring server and storage hardware.
• Proactive maintenance and responding to user incidents.
• L1/L2 troubleshooting of infrastructure issues and resolving of alerts.
• Liaising with managed service platform providers.
• Cloud computing, including Microsoft Azure IaaS, PaaS.
• Understanding and troubleshooting of network LAN and WAN technologies.
